40 hours of GBBO a year on CH4 it will never be off our screens
It works on BBC1 because BBC1 turned it into must-see annual event TV. I think people will bore of it if it's on too much.

Just found that says "up to 40 hours".

I wonder if programmes will be 1.5 hours long to allow for addition of the commercials?

For those of you wanting to take part in the Quiz but can't find this week's Questions, well, with all the Bake Off News and posters being very chatty today, they slipped back three or four pages. But, here they are again to save you having to scroll through pages to find them:

1. Which magical children's Christmas fantasy drama, first shown in the run up to Christmas 1984, got a repeat showing, this time in three, hour long slots, in the run up to Christmas 1986?

2. Which ITV sitcom starring Nicholas Lyndhurst and Janet Dibley aired a festive special on December 23rd 1988?

3. Which popular ITV sitcom starring Mollie Sugden about a woman who unknowingly became a housekeeper for the son she gave away for adoption at birth, aired Christmas specials in the early 1980's?

4. Who hosted ITV's Top Pop Video's of '85 on Christmas Day of that year?

5. A gala concert featuring music from Tchaikovsky that was held on 1st December 1990 but aired on BBC2 during Christmas 1990, came from where?

6. Which timeless gentle romantic sitcom returned on Boxing Day 2005 for the first of two last ever episodes?

7. Which comedy duo, airing on Boxing Day 1990, promised no references to Christmas, hangovers, boxing, sleighbells or the words of Charles Dickens?

Watch the following clip from Youtube and afterwards, answer the the questions about things that appeared in the clip:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4SjLgIsJeR8

8. What was the title of the Elvis Presley movie mentioned during the running of the ident?

9. Who was celebrating their Best Christmas on Holiday Tuesday?

10. Disney Time was presenting what?

For valuable guidance, here's the website link to claires_dad's site that may provide some answers for you:

http://ukchristmastv.weebly.com/

The rules are available should you need them, here:

http://forums.digitalspy.co.uk/showp...&postcount=780

Answers to me in the usual way please, by PM, and by midnight on Saturday September 17th. Good luck and enjoy!

NEXT WEEK:

The Big Quiz Week:
Next week (week 5) will see the start of the second half of this year's Quiz run. There will be 16 Questions to answer, so gives players a real chance to claw back some points.

Prize Draw Week
Week 5 is also another prize draw week. Any player who enters week 5 and has also entered all 4 proceeding weeks, and who scores 12 points or more, will get put into the draw to win a Poster of the 1973 Christmas Radio Times Cover featuring the Two Ronnies, plus a Christmas Radio Times Fridge Magnet.

There will be a second draw afterwards for all players who meet the criteria as stated above for a Christmas Radio Times Fridge Magnet.

So, don't forget, if you want a chance to win the prize(s) in next week's draw and you have entered each week, including this week, you must enter next week too!

Sorry to come back to GBBO but if not already filmed could the BBC withdraw its commission for the two Christmas specials?

I can't wait for the Christmas movie channels to start. I hope to see Snowglobe somewhere this year as it's my favourite Christmas movie .

What date do you all put the decorations up?. I usually do it on November 5th I know it's early but I love it. This year I will be doing it November 25th a month before Christmas (If I can wait that long).

November the 5th!
Gosh I thought I was early. I usually put them up on the last weekend in November, so 26th/27th November this year.

Last Tango In Halifax is about to film 2 Christmas specials...

https://twitter.com/Tonygardner/stat...52281835831296

When does everyone think these will be shown?. I am thinking Tuesday 20th, Wednesday 21st at 9pm as The Missing and The Apprentice will most likely be finished by then.

sounds like the plot

Still Open All Hours temporarily hung its CLOSED sign in the shop window today (September 12) - thanks to a truly bizarre series of events.

The crew of Sir David Jason's classic sitcom somehow nabbed a suspect involved in a police chase, according to The Mirror.

South Yorkshire Police were attempting to detain potential suspects in a drugs and burglary investigation during a car search, when one of the passengers allegedly made a runner.

The suspect reportedly ran through the nearby Still Open All Hours set in Doncaster, only to be nabbed by crew members until police could detain him.

Sounds about right though I would hate to see Celebrity Masterchef on so close to Christmas.
I don't think Shrek will be on BBC One this year as it seems Sky have the rights for the first film and Netflix have the rights for the last 3 now.
I guarantee Bargain Hunt will be on almost everyday over the Christmas period they never take it off.
Looking forward to seeing your next schedule Marke.
