SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT

Due to the Quiz growing from 8 entries in 2014 to 26 this year, I need 25 million quid from all of you to carry it on otherwise I'm taking it to another forum. The popularity of the Quiz means I can now take the piss.
Haha terrific!

I'll start saving, but in the meantime I'll get on with the quiz questions...

12.25 BBC News, Weather
12.35 Film: The Croods
2.00 Top of the Pops
3.00 The Queen
3.10 Film: Monsters University (I'm convinced Frozen will be on C4 - but before Christmas)
4.40 Roald Dahl's Revolting Rhymes 2/2
5.05 BBC News, Weather
5.15 Strictly Come Dancing
6.30 Doctor Who

I see that marke09 and wizzywick both have TBA listed in their schedules, it's 1 of my all time favourites yet it always gets cancelled at the last minute !

Thanks I edited and put Only Fools And Horses in an 80 minute slot as there would definitely be cuts to that.

Two major milestones for this thread today

First it was NINE years ago today that the first mention of the Christmas Radio Times thread was made by fugitive - we have come a long way from then - now we are an all year round thread with quizzes and Clares dad's cover competition is as legendary as the double issue itself

if your new to the thread this year welcome and thanks for taking the time to just read it or take part in it - we all have our thoughts of Christmas TV so why not vent your thoughts about what you would like to see this year and try your hand at being a scheduler with your festive schedule (its much harder than you think it is)

On October 1 I will announce if the Christmas Day ratings comp will go ahead or not

The other milestone is that today September 15 marks the 100 day countdown to Christmas Eve!

100 days , I'm so excited as last year was a bit of an anticlimax in our house as we were in the middle of decorating.

And, this year's thread is the most popular ever, with more posts and more pages than any in the history of the Countdown thread!

Talking of quizzes:

The Quizmas Challenge 2016:

Don't forget to get your answers to me by PM! You only have until midnight Saturday to take part this week.

Here are the Questions:

Thanks.

Thinking now that after 9pm on Christmas Eve the schedule the probably look like this....

9:00 - Outnumbered Christmas Special
9:30 - Walliams And Friend Christmas Special
10:00 - BBC News/Weather
10:20 - National Lottery Draw
10:30 - Not Going Out Christmas Special
11:15 - Mrs Browns Boys (rpt)
11:45 - Midnight Mass

Looking at last year's schedule made me think Walliams And Friend will probably be put in the same slot as last year, the same for Not Going Out.

No not at all, I will definitely be watching BBC One mostly this year especially on Christmas Day. I watched the ITV soaps last year and was dissapointed so it's not worth putting up with the adverts this year.

Have ITV announced a live stage play yet?. I haven't seen The Sound Of Music Live yet as I had it recorded but accidentally deleted it.

Call me chicken but Im no good with fantasy schedules, or fantasy in anything to be honest but here are my views.

Week before Christmas I hope we dont get the normal Schedules but I fear we will, I guess This Morning will pack up on 16 December, giving us a week of Tipping Point, The Chase Rebound etc.

Christmas Eve I think we wont get any soaps, but I feel the 23rd will be treated as Christmas Eve on the soaps, Maybe Eastenders might be an hour ep, while Corrination Street will have its normal friday double, along with a single emmerdale.

ITV will have 4 days to cover with there Christmas guff, going from Christmas Eve to Christmas Tuesday, which Makes me 5% think maybe we might get Christmas Eve soaps, as there will only be one epsiode each of Christmas Mr & Mrs, Christmas Surprise Surprise, Christmas Chase, Christmas through the Keyhole.

Christmas Day will be the same as ever.

Boxing Day same as ever, I would give MOTD 100 minute slot that night though.

Text Santa not sure if your are looking at Friday 16 December or 23 December

MOTD 100 minutes depends really on will they all play on Boxing Day or will SKY have games on the Tuesday and Wednesday nights

and regarding text Santa found this on their website :

After a successful five year run in which Text Santa has raised over £32 million, for 25 charities, we’ve taken the decision to bring Text Santa to a close and look at developing a new all-year-round appeal for the future.

A huge thank you to everyone who has generously supported Text Santa over the years. Your time, money and support has enabled the charities involved to make such a difference to helping those in difficulty.

It probably will be 80min on Boxing Day - it wouldn't surprise me if Sky put a game on the two days afterwards, since there's no games between then and New Years Eve.

But there were games scheduled for December 28th every year since 2013. There's no such hinderance this year.

There were no games on the 28th in 2011 (last time Boxing Day was a Monday) but Boxing Day MOTD was still 90 mins.

theres been a new contract since then worth billions so SKY and BT will want a slice of the Christmas Holiday fan although they play 3 times in a week

they announce the fixtures early October
