from most opf the complaints ive read it sounds like they were with those who wanted an office party but could only manage dinner time and with the singles and elderly people

This week, the Quiz changed! Three potential winners, who have a perfect score to date, have not entered and therefore, if they don't enter this week, the best they can do is qualify for the 70+ Prize Draw at the end, but ONLY if they get all 30 remaining questions correct.

So, here's a call to mightybudgie, NellCarter and pizzatheaction to get your answers in by midnight. If they don't, then the whole dynamic of the Quiz changes course, because the following players:

Hildaonpluto
pedrok
theSweeney
RG101
brucie_bonus and
altally

will overtake them and gain a place in next week's semi-final (if they choose to enter).
So, the Quiz has turned into an all to play for for those who thought it wasn't!

The following players have automatically been entered into this week's prize draw where three players will win something! So, if you want to be added to that list, get your answers to me in time, especially if you have played every week.

pembo2004
Footballfan87
Hildaonpluto
pedrok
theSweeney
RG101
brucie_bonus
altally
smokeycat
davads
yorkieUK
JBO
marke09
Claires_dad
The final reminder for mightybudgie, NellCarter and pizzatheaction. Two hours until the deadline passes for this week's quiz.

Week 5: Round 5 is Closed

Please do not send any answers for week 5 anymore as I am unable to accept them.

Thanks to everyone who played this week, and a big thank you to everyone, regardless as to how many times they've entered, for taking part. Sadly, as is the nature of Quizzes, we have reached the stage where some players are unable to gain the 70 points needed to qualify for the 70+ Prize draw at the end. Here is the scores of those players who will no longer feature on the main scoreboard:

Scoreboard for Non-Qualifiers

Allan 8
Shakeytictac 9
J-Star 26.5
welshfergiebird 27
vinnyvega 28
Cory_Osborn2 33
cylon6 35
RJ 37

The answers and Leaders Scoreboard will follow shortly, along with a list of names put forward to the prize draws in the morning.

Is that your Andrew Marr impression? Trying to get me to confirm that I will do the Quiz next year! Good try Cory! I'm going to give a politicians answer and say that I will make an announcement in due course, but nothing has been decided yet.

Week 6

The rules have been posted each week since week 1, therefore, I'm not posting them this week as I believe they're no longer necessary. Plus, the addition of a semi-final this year during the course of the Quiz has changed the rules somewhat, so full details of the semi-final and the rules will be posted during the week. Keep an eye on this thread for full information.

Now, for this week's Questions, a return to the 10 Question format.

1. Professor Amanda Vickery presented a fascinating insight into which British female romantic novelist at Christmas 2011?

2. The article “Highland Fling” in the 2008 issue, refers to what BBC1 big Christmas drama?

3. Which epic war film aired on Boxing Day afternoon on BBC1 in 1989?

4. Jenna Louise Coleman was a guest star in which Jane Austen inspired sequel during Christmas 2013?

5. What was the title of the last ever Only Fools and Horses Christmas Special?

6. What year did it air?

7. Who is the hero of My Hero, the 2000's sitcom?

8. Where did the Christmas Eve midnight mass service on BBC1 come from in 2001?

9. There was a documentary about a British animation company on Boxing Day afternoon on BBC1 in 2015. Which company was the documentary celebrating?

10. In the French and Saunders Christmas Puddings special from 2002, who were the comedy duo supposedly house sitting for?

Don't forget to use claires_dad's website for research purposes. You can link to it here:

http://ukchristmastv.weebly.com/

Don't forget to PM your answers by 11.59pm this coming Saturday, 1st October.

NEXT WEEK: Week 7, the Penultimate Week, PLUS The Semi-Final Questions.

Hi Wizzy I've just spotted this post and your private messages! I'm delighted to have won and I am grateful to you for running this competition.
At this precise moment in time I'm on the last day of my holiday in Edinburgh, I went to see Joan Collins theatre show last night and I am still coming back down to earth as it was a divine experience being so close to a showbusiness legend on the second row!!
I'm currently packing my suitcase and heading to do some last minute sightseeing before I catch the train home.
I'm currently in the process of moving home myself so I will have to give you a family members address for you to send my prize but I need to check with them and I can't really do that until tomorrow.

I will private message you tomorrow when I have one of my family member's addresses to give you once it's been decided which family member it is!

Many thanks again

Hilda

Hilda, did you not know that it is illegal to go on holiday during the run of the Quiz? Or to move? In fact anything that distracts you from the Quiz is not allowed. I may have to instantly disqualify you.

Spoiler

Good luck with the continuation of your hectic life! You are well on track to get to the final week of the quiz and get entered into the prize draw. You can afford to get 11 questions wrong.

Buzzfeed reporting the two Christmas specials of Bake Off WILL be shown as they were filmed after the main series ended filming as is unaffected by whats happened
I'll be surprised if the second of those doesn't end up on Christmas Day, which means we could finally be in for a shake up in the schedule too! In fact, they should have one on Christmas Eve and one on Christmas Day imo. Maybe moving either Doctor Who or Call The Midwife (or both) to Christmas Eve / Boxing Day to accommodate on the big day.

Christmas TV Schedules could look different this year which would be different.

Especially if they did put Bake Off on Christmas Eve and Day, but I feel it will be on the midweek before, as it might give people ideas on what to cook for christmas, If you have spent hours cooking on Christmas Day last thing you might want to watch is cooking.

Christmas Eve being a Saturday you're likely to have the normal Saturday Kitchen so a Bake Off that same evening, maybe overkill.

Graham Nortons Final show of the year I guess will be on December 30, with there being a full football calendar on New Years Eve

Assuming the music channels start changing to Christmas songs at the same time the did last year, at the end of October, only 5 weeks till then!

First real autumnal chill in the Edinburgh air this morning when I left home.

I hate MotD being on on New Years Eve. It really does deflate the celebratory mood. I wonder if it will just be an hour long show like it was in 2011 with another pop concert at 11.30? They cant let football dominate the schedules on New Years Eve can they?

From the looks of things, based on their schedules for the next 7 days, it looks like True Christmas launches this weekend!!!

Not sure as with another round of football fixtures in all divisions on Monday 2 January, you are likely to only have 2 fixtures carried over to New Years Day.

So you are looking at 8 Premier League Games being played on New Years Eve, Cant see them squeezing in 8 Games in a hour.

It is likely Channel 5 schedule on New Years Eve could be dominated with football also, I know in 2011, BBC didn't show a Football League Show on NYE, but I think with the contract with channel 5 they have to.
