Christmas TV Schedules could look different this year which would be different.
Especially if they did put Bake Off on Christmas Eve and Day, but I feel it will be on the midweek before, as it might give people ideas on what to cook for christmas, If you have spent hours cooking on Christmas Day last thing you might want to watch is cooking. Christmas Eve being a Saturday you're likely to have the normal Saturday Kitchen so a Bake Off that same evening, maybe overkill. Graham Nortons Final show of the year I guess will be on December 30, with there being a full football calendar on New Years Eve Doubt Bake Off will be on Christmas Eve and Day for the reasons you gave yourself, pretty sure they'll be on in the week leading up to Christmas. Tuesday and Wednesday maybe? |

Looking at the BBC genome site where it lists past schedules, could 1978 be the worst BBC1 Christmas in living memory? From the hideous, nightmarish ident to a TV Movie of a True Grit sequel on Christmas night, it seems the only highlights were The Sound of Music and The French Connection. Christmas Eve programming was awful and Boxing night the best schedule of the three main days.
http://genome.ch.bbc.co.uk/schedules...don/1978-12-26 I do know however, that industrial action was called off on December 21st, but the schedules would have been devised before the threat of strike action was cancelled. |

Heart start November 1st don't they?. Everytime I turned it on last year it was Mud's 'Lonely This Christmas'.
Wasn't it Heart that last year cut off the ending of the Wizard video. I think another (not sure what channel) also cut out the bit mentioning Rolf Harris in Mel Smith and Kim Wilde Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree. ![]() A bit over the top I think. |

Unfortunately channel not available on Freeview in my area.
![]() Have you not considered getting freesat too? It's a lot of hassle I guess having to put a satellite dish up just to watch True Christmas! |

Thankfully, I have freesat so with both freeview and freesat I have a good choice of channels that I never watch! Better than having to pay Sky for channels I never watched though.

It's not like the Masterclass though, it's more for entertainment purposes and a fitting swan song for Bake Off on the BBC with it being past bakers from the show.

Don't agree with having to pay for commercial channels so refuse to have Sky. |

I had Sky for 7 years but was unable to justify the £60 per month fee. Like yourself, I feel slightly aggrieved having to pay for channels that have commercials which is why I watch more BBCtv than anything. If the BBC was ever made to carry ads I think I'd probably get rid of the telly or just watch DVD's.
freeview where I live consists of 13 basic channels |

I was paying £44 for SKY but have now got it down to £15 a month and have only lost the ids package and music and documentaries but get all the non sky film channels and over 200 other channels
freeview where I live consists of 13 basic channels I did manage to get Sky down to around £30 per month a couple times, but they stopped offering me deals after three times. So, I got rid of Sky, got a Freesat box, added on Now TV where I get the Sky Cinema channels and 13 others like GOLD and Sky One and Netflix on the Freesat box and I pay around £9 per month. I love my Humax box. It has Freetime which means you can scroll back to the TV Guides for the last seven days and watch instantly a programme you missed without having to switch to iPlayer. The box does much more than the Sky box ever did and the facxt you get around 200 channels for nothing is pretty impressive. |

The scare stories have started early this year
WINTER storms will arrive within six weeks unleashing four months of heavy snow and sub-zero temperatures, forecasters claimed today. Thermometers will plunge as crippling snowstorms and major whiteouts hit Britain in November and hang around well into February. Experts warn Brits to expect an ice-cold December even hinting at the possibility of a white Christmas this year. After several mild and wet winters 2016 will buck the trend with the UK facing the coldest and snowiest weather for at least six years. A dramatic swing towards colder conditions will see temperatures plummet across the country as freezing air sweeps in from the Polar regions causing chaos on the roads. James Madden, forecaster for Exacta Weather, said the country could be plagued by heavy and persistent snow broken up by storms and heavy rain for up to four months. “Despite the much warmer than average but unsettled summer and the warm start to autumn, people should not be lulled into a false sense of security,” he said. “Throughout this winter we fully expect some quite potent wintry blasts from as early as November for the northern half of the country, and even the southern half of the country can expect some prolonged wintry weather at times. “This does not dispel some large temperature swings to milder and potentially stormy weather conditions throughout this winter period, but we do expect less stormy weather conditions throughout this winter and in comparison to the last few winter periods.” The bitter forecast comes amid predictions subtle changes in atmospheric pressure will open the floodgates to freezing air from the Arctic through the season. Britain has been beset by weather anomalies through the past 12 months with last winter the third warmest on record and last month delivering the hottest September day for 105 years. https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/185299...ws-_-598049086 I blame Brexit

Lol! I really expected the link to be from the Daily Express. And, I also expected it to be forecasted by Jonathan Powell of Vantage Weather. Wrong on both counts!
