The reason I haven't entered is because, IMHO, it starts to early. August (the end of I know) is when the sun is still shining, its summer, and I haven't even taken my summer holiday yet. Of course I know this is a Christmas thread and enjoy the read, but partaking in the summer (in a Christmas related quiz) just feels....wrong.
Not a criticism at all but I wonder if it started even mid/end September for 6 weeks when the seasons start to change then it may be engaging for more people.
I like the idea of the weekly winners "facing off" at the end for a grand prize or whatever. Only thing that strikes me is if you have the same weekly winner for say 4 weeks of those 6 (for example) then the "grand finale" could be a bit of damp squid with only 2-3 people involved. That's assuming that winning one week would not preclude you from having the opportunity to win a different week, because if that was the case then people may feel they have less incentive to enter after they have already won on any particular week.
Hope that is helpful.”

Thanks for your comments. They are greatly appreciated. The length of the Quiz and indeed when it should start is one aspect that I will be looking at. There is no reason why it needs to be 8 weeks, but if it is the case where the last week is a winners face off, it would need to be a minimum of 6 weeks of regular questions so 6 competitors enter the "face off" in week 7. I think you raise some interesting points and it's nice to get your feedback.

ITV should take the opportunity to make a Goodnight Sweetheart Christmas Special and series, Because the BBC have no plans to bring the programme for a new series.

Pity ITV couldn't get a one off epsiode of Goodnight Sweetheart sorted out for Christmas Day.

Start the new series of Birds of a Feather the same Night, up against whatever Comedy BBC put on, and see who gets the most viewers.

It would be funnny if the ITV Comedy's, got more viewers than the BEEB offering, it would be a like up yours

Very quiet on the Quiz front so far. I hope as many of you stick with it in this final week, it'll be a shame to bow out when you got this far!

Bit of research for someone, and I'm sure someone will know. How much has each magazine been over the last 10 years. I'm interested to know
(a) How many price hikes there have been
(b) The total 10 year increase

I can only do the RT

2007- £2.00
2008- £2.10
2009- £2.10
2010 - £2.40
2011 - £2.50
2012 - £2.80
2013 - £3.20
2014 - £3.60
2015 - £4.00
2016 - £4.60?

As for the others they all dont pass on the exact double issue price (sometimes a few pence more but mostly cheaper)

If it is £4.60, that's ridiculous. The £1 for 12 issues offer is brilliant value for money. I don't even look at the other issues, but £1 for the Christmas issue is very good value all the same!

Well next year it should be £5 if the RT continues to put the price up by 20p every January

They will end up pricing themselves out of the market, I bet the majority who buy the RadioTimes, are customer who have bought it for years.

I dont know how they will get new readers, as many will look at EPGS, which are free and wont bother buying especially the youth.

I signed up to the £1 Offer today. I will cancel the direct debit before the offer ends. I also think £4.60 is too much for the Christmas Issue, but I will have to buy it as my collection will be incomplete.

Pity the Christmas Issue cant come with some kind of free gift, to appreciate those who buy it weekly or at Christmas.

Something a bit more substantial than a token you have to cut our for a book or the such

The Christmas issue, yes.

Also if you buy the 12 issues for £1.00 via Topcashback you get £1.05 cashback.

The problem with giving a free gift with the issue is that they then fall into the VAT trap (if its a book then thats fine as there is no VAT on reading material) but if it were say a DVD then they would have to either add the 20% VAT or take it off the current price and add it again

This was one of the reasons the Mail stopped giving away DVDs with the paper

Thanks Mark09.
Think I'll have to seriously consider the 12 issues for £1 offer! anyone got a link?

As for the price hike, 100% increase in 8 years, are we living in a Banana Repulic? Or, as Catherine Tate's 'Nan' would have it:- "What a F*"king Liberty"

Big Festive period for Horse Racing, and the way it is shown on TV.

New Years Day on ITV, will include Horse Racing, for the first time since Channel 4 came into being
