Final Scores and Winners Revealed!!!

Firstly though, I hope you guys were paying attention! Remember this from the Week 6 Answers Confirmation Post?

10. In the French and Saunders Christmas Puddings special from 2002, who were the comedy duo supposedly house sitting for?

Richard and Judy.

Important Point About Question 10:

Everyone except three players put Richard and Judy as their answer. However, I do acknowledge that the Radio Times itself and the BBC Genome site and claires_dad's website (which collates information from the Radio Times) stated "Rock Star".

I couldn't refuse this as an answer as it wouldn't be fair, considering the information was conflicting. However, I am determined to act fairly and reasonably, and considering the majority did infact put Richard and Judy as their answer, I have decided, that whilst I gave the point to those who put "Rock Star", in the event of a tie-break at the end, the person who put Richard and Judy will supersede those who put Rock Star. I'm sorry if this comes across as harsh, but I had to take into account that we had 16 entries and thirteen of those entries put Richard and Judy.

Well, keep reading on, because it's going to get a whole lot more interesting!

Semi-Final Speed Points

Here are your scores from the semi-final according to how speedy you were to get your answers to me. The highest score was 14 for the first person and 4 points for the last.

The person who scored 14 additional points was theSweeney. So, this brings your score to 102. Will it be enough to win? Read on and find out.

4 points are awarded to Hildaonpluto. Your final score is 87.
5 points are awarded to YorkieUK. Your final score is 97.
6 points are awarded to brucie_bonus. Your final score is 94.
7 points are awarded to davads. Your final score is 101.
8 points are awarded to pedrok. Your final score is 94.
9 points are awarded to JBO. Your final score is 99.
10 points are awarded to altally. Your final score is 102.

Sadly, none of you guys made it into the top three. But thank you all for entering and I hope you found the Quiz enjoyable. You are still in with a chance of winning a prize in the 70+ draw coming up!

Now for the Top Three Prize Winners.

11 points is awarded to marke09. Your final score is 104.
12 points is awarded to Smokeycat. Your final score is also 104.

So, we therefore have two people in second place. In light of the fact that both posters scored 104 points.

However, one of you put "Rock Star" as your answer as highlighted in the tie-break decider rule above, and one of you put "Richard and Judy". As harsh as it is, one of you has to come third, and I can now reveal that the person who came third in this year's Quiz is..........smokeycat. Well done and Congratulations. You have won a Poster Wall Calendar for 2017 featuring 3 Radio Times Covers.

Which means, last year's Champion is this year's second place winner! Well done and Congratulations to marke09 who wins the Wall Calendar as above PLUS a Radio Times Tea-Towel featuring the 1977 Christmas Cover.

Finally,

13 points is awarded to claires_dad. Your final score is 107.

Even if I deduct a point for entering "Rock Star" as your answer to the question highlighted in the tie-break scenario above, you would still be the overall winner!

So Congratulations Claires_dad, you are Quiz Champion 2016! Your prize is: A poster of a classic 1950's Radio Times Cover, A Poster Wall Calendar for 2017 featuring three RT Covers, a stainless steel keyring engraved with Quiz Winner 2016 in a gift box, A Tea towel of the 1977 Christmas RT Cover and a boxed set of 101 Postcards, all featuring a different RT cover.

If all three of you can PM your addresses to me, I will post your prizes out tomorrow.

So, we have our three winners. Thanks to everyone for taking part. The 70+ Prize Draw will take place shortly.

Once again, congratulations to smokeycat, marke09 and claires_dad.

So, there's just one more thing to do:

ANNOUNCEMENT ABOUT NEXT YEAR'S QUIZ:

Now that this year's Quiz is ended, I can now confirm that, after consideration, that this year was the final time for me as Quiz organiser. Thank you all for your support and for entering and I hope you enjoyed taking part.

Although, what I should have said was that this year was the last time for me as sole Quiz organiser. Two weeks ago I said I would not do the Quiz after next year. But since then the situation has changed.

From next year, the Quiz will be bigger and better. It will have great prizes and a fresh new look. But to keep it exciting and inviting I need someone else to help me run it. So from 2017 and hopefully beyond, it will be co-managed by myself and thread regular marke09. Together we will create some fresh Questions and new ideas and between us ensure the Quiz can continue for several years – or at least whilst you guys still want to enter.

The details of what and how are still to be decided and it would be great if we could get some ideas from yourselves, a request for ideas was posted last week. But, the Quiz will return on Sunday August 20th next year, and probably for 8 more weeks. But of course confirmation of this will be posted once myself and marke09 have had chance to assess.

Prizes will start to be revealed from March – and they're even better than this year's!

So, once again, a huge huge thank you to everyone for taking part. It has been a blast. Thanks to all of you who pointed out the mistakes, thanks for playing along in the middle of the night and into dawn which is what some of you did. I am so pleased you all stuck with it. Thank you one and all. See you next year!

Now, let's bring the curtain down and hand the events diary to claires_dad! Over to you claires_dad, and over and out!

The End!

To bridge the gap between now and the start of the Guess the Cover quiz, I shall be running The Festive Films Quotes Quiz.

The quiz is just for fun, no prizes this time.

I will post 10 quotes from Christmas films later today and 10 quotes next Sunday, all you have to do is PM me with which films they were from.

The "New & Improved" Guess the Christmas Radio Times Cover Quiz will start on Saturday October 29th, more details on that later.

Love Christmas RT

Just wondering, what Christmas TV specials will there be this year? I always like to have a look. I know there is A Bronte one-off film called 'To Walk Invisible' which looks good.

I have a confession to make. I went to Poundstretcher and bought £32.00 worth of Christmas decorations! I am having a white tree this year so didn't want garish reds, blues and greens with thick green wired lights and gold tinsel draped all over it! It wasn't my intention to buy loads of Christmas stuff, but it was there and needed to be bought! Nice bluey silver tinsel to drape across my pictures will go nicely with blue, silver and white theme on the tree! When did LED tree lights get so cheap?
