I don't take much notice of long range weather forecasts, it only takes a slight change in wind direction and they're completely wrong. They forecast an "arctic blast" with snow and freezing temperatures for the second half of October and beyond a few weeks ago, no sign of it at the moment.

Im 41, and I haven't seen a white Christmas in my lifetime, it would be nice.

The Closest we have come to it was, I think we had a heavy snowfall, on a Boxing Day, which lasted about a week

Did you not have one in 2010? although the Met Office defines a White Christmas as it having snowed on the day so any lying snow would not count towards a White Christmas

I know things can change the only reason i posted this was because the forecast has changed significantly since they did their last update which was showing a very mild Christmas - of course as the weeks go on they should start to be able to firm up on it but it gives us something to argue about in the mean time

Also the met office is now able to predict winter weather a year in advance so can I it will be cold sometimes with a chance of snow but also sunny and dry at periods

Some info on the Father Brown Christmas Special which is a one off before the start of the new series in January

Father Brown Christmas Special - BBC One
Father Brown investigates when the son of a Duke is abducted from Lady Felicia’s yuletide ball. Canon Fox (Roger May) pays a visit to inform Father Brown (Mark Williams) and Mrs McCarthy (Sorcha Cusack) that the Duke of Frome, John Langton (Ray Coulthard) will be attending Christmas Mass at St Mary’s. Later at the Yuletide ball Inspector Mallory (Jack Deam) is informed that the infant is missing. With a ladder against the nursery window, the Inspector surmises that the baby has been kidnapped: all they can do now is wait. Can he find the child in time for Christmas?

I know the other week our Weather guy on Points West, was asked by the presenter what kinda winter she should expect.

He said he should be able to tell us more about the Winter, when the winter information comes out in November or something

World Of Sport Wrestling

ITV has commissioned a one-off wrestling special to air later this year.

Commissioned by Helen Warner for ITV and produced by ITV Studios Entertainment, World Of Sport Wrestling or WOS Wrestling will see some of the UK’s top names in the sport compete in a fun-filled afternoon of family sports entertainment.

The two hour special will see some of the UK’s finest pro wrestlers including, 'The East End Butcher' Sha Samuels, Dave Mastiff and 'Viper' Kimberly Benson, compete in front of a live audience across a series of fights; from singles to tag team and eliminations. Commentary will come from America's number one wrestling commentator, Jim Ross.

Backstage, viewers will catch up with the wrestlers between fights and at the end of the show one fighter will take home the WoS Wrestling belt.

Looks like BBC Press Office is gearing up for the release of early programme Information in the run up to Christmas as they have added weeks 46 and 47 up to November 25 to its page - so going by previous years this info should be published every 6 days not seven starting next Wednesday (or earlier)

What you have here is probably 6 months weather data put into several computer models to predict the outcome based on past winters that have had similar summers. Then using the average as the forecast. Whilst we have seen massive improvements in short-term forecasting, to do it beyond 5 days is almost impossible. SEE PAGE 46 post 126.
Even short term is far from accurate (on Mon the BBC predicted rain for Sheffield this Saturday - they're now saying 'dry with sunny spells'.

We all know how a hurricane can and will impact on the weather world-wide. So when's the next one? No one knows. They don't even know if one is going to start tomorrow. If it does, you can forget any 5-10 day forecast because they'll change immediately.

Weather is not an exact science. Weather detail cannot be accuretly predicted beyond a few days. Why don't people understand this?

Yeah, it really annoys me when newspapers say things like its going to be the coldest winter ever, or hottest summer etc.

There are too many variables to predict the weather beyond a few days. Chaos Theory...

It's a pilot for a new talk show called All Round At Mrs Brown's. They filmed the Christmas and New Year specials last week I think.

Yes before the Football on BBC One, Im a big Football fan, but in my eyes, there is something not right about a flagship channel like BBC One having to have Football Highlights on NYE.

I guess the Final Graham Norton of the year, will be on Friday 30 December
