Personally I think it abhorent that Wogan took a fee for doing this (the only one at the Beeb by the way). Apart from earing £800,000 a year from his breakfast show and all his other earnings and endorsements, he still trousered £9,100 a show. All the while talking so passionately and sincerely about those less forntunate and telling us why we should give so generously. Surely he could have foregone this piffling amount. And whilst it doesn't stop me contributing in other ways, it just tainted the show and smacked of overt hypocrisy.

According to this from 2007 he never asked for a fee and it was the BBC who felt it appropriate to pay him one :

No he didn't. He donated it to Children in Need once he realised he was paid.

My concern is that, although we can't really say for sure if Terry knew or not, the BBC, who created, hosts and produces this programme knew only to well they were paying Terry! BBC are at fault for this, not Terry IMO

Interesting that they are keeping Tess Daly and new host Graham Norton apart on Children in Need night - Tess doing the opening bit with Greg James then Graham doing the middle slot

It will be interesting to see which channels edit/cut certain songs this year.
Mel Smith and Kim Wilde, Wizzard, and The Pogues are the three I can think of.

Heart TV
Wizzard (missed ending).
Mel Smith and Kim Wilde (shorter version).
Strangely the Pogues was left unedited.

Yep, I usually do them on the 5th but not able to this year. I know it's early but they make the room look nice.

I see where you're coming from, but think of it this way.

I doubt the camera operators worked on the show for free, or the sound guys, or the people in the editing suite or anyone else involved in the production of it. £9,100 is a token fee for a nationwide presenter to receive for a show of that length. All of that came from the BBC, not Children in Need, and none of us have any idea of the amount he donated to charity.

My prediction for the Radio Times Christmas cover-Roald Dahl's Revolting Rhymes characters in a snowy, festive scene. Or one or two of them.

I thought it was really strange why they edited certain videos last year. Yet other channels VH1, MTV and Blismass (which is sadly no longer available) shown the Wizard video uncut. It was just Heart TV which edited the videos for these.

He didn't donate it, he waived it, once he'd been exposed by the press. How could he possibly not know he was getting paid for 27 years. It is totally incomrehensible!

Oh please, the BBC to blame? So, linked with other suggestions in this thread, am I/we, to believe the BBC decided to pay Terry, Ask everyone else to do it for free, AND not tell Terry he was getting was getting paid. I know TW was loved by many but come on people, talk about head in the sand with this one. One final thought, who has ever entered into a contract (via agent or not) and not known the fee or if it's a charity gig?

1. Camera Operators/Sounds Guys are not on anywhere near the salary TW is on.
2. Camera Operators/Sounds Guys are not raising their own profile, ergo, generating more work/income for themselves like TW was.
3. When TW tells us just £5 will provide a Mosquito net that could keep a family safe:- £9,100 seem like 1820 of nets (not a token fee)
4. No you're right we don't know how much he's given to charity, but we do know what he made on the back of it. How many of us have profiteered from famine. Because like it or not, that's exactly what he's done.

Can I join in the guess the cover comp

I'm afraid I haven't been following what shows are going to be on over xmas so my second guess is going to be a shot in the dark:

Traditional - A picture of a group of children having a snowball fight.

Modern - Ed Balls dressed as Father Christmas dancing

I'll accept that as your entry for a specific programme cover you may also suggest a traditional cover, see the rules posted earlier in the thread!
