When was that? I can't recall anyone saying that here.

It's definitely a double issue this year.

1. Traditional cover - An updated version of the classic 1977 Christmas tree village cover with Father Christmas in the sky on his sleigh.
2. T.V./Film themed - A Christmas tree with stars providing the decorations such as Mrs Brown, Call The Midwife and Danny Dyer on the top of the tree dressed as a fairy.

Some 2016 Christmas Tv news from BBC Two

BBC Two has confirmed a two-part Christmas special for 2016 The Real Marigold on Tour (w/t), starring some familiar faces from the first series of The Real Marigold Hotel. Four of the original cast return to BBC Two as actress Miriam Margolyes, dancer Wayne Sleep, darts champion Bobby George and chef Rosemary Shrager test out different retirement communities around the world, travelling to Florida and Japan.

This is before a new set of celebrities move in to the Hotel early 2017 and also moves to BBC One

Traditional cover - something not too dissimilar from the 1981 cover, albeit more modern. A snowy scene, a church bell will feature and some doves or robins.

My other guess is the cast of Sherlock in a wintery outdoor scene.

Hoping for Traditional Covers for both Mags as I always buy them!

Wish the TV Channels Namely SY-TV aka ITV (seeing as Simon Cowell runs ITV ha) would make more of a thing about it being Christmas as in recent years you wouldn't even think it was Christmas going by their Schedules!

Guess I am just hankering for the days of old, I must be getting old myself, help!

Just for a bit fun.

No prizes, but have a guess at the Cover for the Week of 30Dec/6Jan which will cover the New Year.

My Guess will probably be sherlock, but If I was the publishing company, I would want a cover which would scream out New Year.

(No entries will be accepted before then)

The prize will be a 2017 calendar featuring past Radio Times Covers

This year everyone will be entitled to TWO entries!

Post your entries in this thread :

Your first entry should be your guess for a Traditional Christmas cover

(Please note entries that just say Santa Claus or Christmas Tree etc are not allowed, be as detailed as possible)

Your second entry should be your guess for a cover that may feature a Specific TV (or Radio) Programme or Programmes or TV Star(s)
(Again just the name of the programme/TV Star is not acceptable please give more detail)

Please post your entry as follows :

A) Your guess for a traditional cover

The winner will be either whoever gets it right or whoever I deem to be the closest!

In the event of a tie, names will be put into a hat and a winner will be drawn from that.

The winner will be announced on this thread and they will also be notified by private message.

In the event of there being more than one cover and more than one person being right, those who are right will have their names put in a hat and a winner drawn at random

My decision will be final!

About 11/13 years ago, when my daughters were younger we bought a new Christmas tree and all new decorations. We have used this every year since. My eldest has left and done 4 years at Uni, before returning home, and my youngest has also moved away to Uni. I did suggest to both of them that we would get a new, smaller tree this year, and was told clearly that they still wanted the older tree and decorations back up

In saying that, I'm not getting any younger, and its getting harder getting up into the loft to drag it all down, and then put it all away again

As TV is 80 years old this year it will mirror the 1936 "rocking horse" cover. But be modernised.

That sounds perfect to be true, but they will have to come up with something, as it will still be festive.

The way Christmas works this year, it may work well for Radio Times, as because of the new year listing, customers, will be inclined to buy that normal issue, and who knows, they might carry on buying
