Still say the other thread should be boycotted. It's nothing more than trolling.

I contacted the mods, they don't care.

Doesn't help that unfamiliar posters keep posting in the 2017 thread, so even if we wanted to boycott it and let it slip down a few pages out of sight, we can't!

I think, in hindsight, that a brand new thread with a new title should replace it. Maybe we could decide collectively what next year's Thread will be called?

That way, the thread will be fresh and new and won't get merged with the bogus one.

Ah sadly that's a wrap on #lasttangoinhalifax coming to @BBCOne over the Christmas period”

I hope it does not take up a Christmas Eve slot this year. It is a great show but it does not fit Christmas EVE IMO.

It was only on Christmas Eve in 2013 because the series ran on Tuesdays and the final episode that year was set on Christmas Eve so aired on Christmas Eve.

As this years thread starter (thanks again to judomole) and your host for the year, I feel its my duty to ensure a smooth transition between the threads.

Now that it has been agreed to start a new one next month the question is HOW?

Well as I see it we have three options which today I am opening up to you the posters as the best way forward - unfortunately it looks like the mods cannot delete the poll so we will have to proceed in the best way we can

The options

1 - Nominations - posters get to nominate a person to start the thread, if one person gets more nominations than others they get to start but if there is a tie it will be put to a vote

2 - Quiz - Once the Guess the Cover competition closes a short one week quiz set by
myself with the winner starting the thread

3 - Leave It As It Is - Although the winner of this years Guess the cover comp gets a nice prize (RT calendar) the winner also gets to start the thread as in previous years

So those are our options now its up to you which one you favour - please post your preferences either in the forum or if you prefer to do it privately then please do PM me

This little poll will close at 6pm on Sunday 6 November and result announced later that evening and I hope we all stick to the agreed decision

Personally I'd be happy with any of the suggestions. I love this thread although I read more than post and I'd rather it be one of the regulars or someone who at least has shown their commitment by taking part in one of the quizzes. I'll abide by whatever is decided and if it's a vote I'll cast my vote.

I choose option 3 and if by some fluke I won the cover competition again I would nominate someone for honour of starting the thread for next year.
Perhaps we could call it" the competition winner's Official Christmas Radio Times Countdown And Christmas TV Thread 2017"

Probably best not to mention any title names at the moment.
I'm sure some idiot will probably start a new thread with that name.

How about the winner started a general Radio Times Thread, cant say I have ever seen one.

We could comment on the programmes, the articles, how they cover Bank Holidays TV.
If anybody does like the Crosswords or the games, Posters could ask for clues or help in getting it right, if they have a competition, and tokens are needed for example, maybe others can help.

This wont be for next year, but on other sections of Digital Spy i.e. Soaps, they get a bit confused about alternative schedules, surrounding Football Touraments etc

Someone tried to start one back in April but it only got 7 comments and most of them were asking for it to move to the Press Section but us including Christmas Tv it can stay in the Broadcasting forum

I don't know the rules about starting new threads but what about using the same title but with a random letter at the end, chosen by the winner maybe?

"The Official Christmas Radio Times Countdown And Christmas TV Thread 2017 [Random letter]"

Or maybe the winner of 'guess the cover' name in the title somewhere.

I'm sure there are ways around this annoyance.

It's been the first Friday of November for the last few years but 'campaign' say that it could be next Thursday (November 10th)

You could be right, it normally appears on youtube the day before, and you normally get a Digital Spy interview about it, neither have appeared

You guys should definitely start next year's thread and boycott all others.

I think it's nice that the guess the cover competition winner gets the honour. Would support continuing.

Just a thought does the thread have to stay on the forum? what about a Facebook or Twitter group?.
Probably a bad idea since it's been on here for so long.

I noticed that Heart Radio replied to a tweet recently suggesting they may be starting a Christmas Radio station this year.

Well I'd be up for it, even if it was just a group for Christmas TV Past, Present and Future?.
