Maybe one day. Although, I have technically already received 4 nominations!

Wait a sec. I said leave as it is, meaning the current thread should be left as is and NOT recreated. I mean really.

These were the options. . .

Right I want peoples opinions.

How would you guys feel about a General TV Magazines thread, We could discuss articles, Help each other if they do the crosswords or guizzes and need a hand, if anybody wanted a token or something for one of there competitions if they wanted it.

We could also discuss, Schedules around Holiday Times, and moan about how the bank holidays aren't the same as us old crusty remember them.

One rule would be no discussion of any thing christmas related, and alert posters to use the Christmas one only for the christmas editions.

Basically i mentioned on here, yesterday my uncle died, and feel like getting my teeth into somthing

Ah, but Billie, you don't actually have loyalty to this thread, so it's hard to categorise you as a regular. You don't have the attachment to it that some of us have. Plus, you annoyingly kept posting in the 2017 Thread as if egging it on. So, whilst you might think it pathetic to start a new one, I disagree.

I have been posting in these threads for a few years now and i was only echoing what you said previously you were happy for it to stay and the other thread i have posted five times in it and you have posted six times, i am not egging it on at all, just replying to other posters like i do in every thread.

No there was the option to just leave it be. It doesn't matter who starts the thread.

"Leave It As It Is - Although the winner of this years Guess the cover comp gets a nice prize (RT calendar) the winner also gets to start the thread as in previous years"

It should be the regulars who choose rather than interlopers

I asked the mods to remove it. They didn't so I just accepted that it existed. I have realised that it won't be closed down so just went with it. Doesn't mean I was happy about it.

Its a shame but i say leave it. It is a pity that mods don't realise how this Thread system works though.

Also while im posting, I would love some of your support,on a Thread, I have made about everything to do with UK TV Magazines, would love your guys support.

Fair enough. It's just that I have one small grumble in that you didn't include my idea of those wanting to start it to have their names put in a hat and the thread starter to be drawn randomly.

This would have given everyone who wanted to start it the chance of being able to do so. It was this suggestion in my post that inspired your poll I believe.

Never mind though, it's done now.

Firstly condolences on your loss

As i mentioned a few pages back someone started a thread back in April about TV Mags - it lasted just 6 posts and most of them were asking the mods to move it to the press section

I worry if it went to the press section it would not last long
This thread has been used all year for anything TV mag related so im sure the idea of helping each other out could continue on the new thread

I thought it meant that too

We have to be welcoming in this thread. I always sense there is a culture of 'them' and 'us' (unintentionally). So much focus is put on the person who creates the new thread but does it really matter? Last year, I created the thread because I won the RT competition and seriously, where as normally people get lots of thanks for hosting the thread etc. I got nothing! Probably because I am not one of the 'us' group. We need to be welcoming to everybody and who cares who creates the thread? I seriously don't think people do it on purpose. I really do not like wizzy comment of

I do agree. As a regular reader but rare poster I certainly sense a cliquey atmosphere about this.

BIB: For the past two years, the threads have been started out of mischief.

We are friendly and welcoming. But we are a niche bunch. There is no them and us. The more people who participate in the thread, the better.

Which is why, I accepted that the already started thread should stay. It doesn't matter who starts it, but the person who starts it should really give a rundown of the events that are taking place throughout the year. This means people who dip in and out can make a point of returning when things interest them.

Anyway, this is the last time I'll mention next year's thread. Maybe we should start a new one called "The Christmas Radio Times and Television Countdown Thread"and not date it. Then it can just continue naturally - Part 1, Part 2 andso on. Like the Ratings thread. That way, no one will ever need to start one again!

here's an interesting thought about what constitutes a "regular"

I run a Pub.

Every New Years Eve I do a free buffet for customers........a customer a few years ago said it should just be for "regulars"

What makes somebody a "regular" I asked - "somebody like me who comes in most nights" was the reply............

"But what about the quiz team - 10 of them who come in once a week every week of the year?" was my response..........."NO they are NOT regulars" I was told............

But they ARE regulars - you see if you get a "clicque" in a Pub or in any enviroment its puts other people off contributing or coming in and adding much needed new blood and oxygen as they are too afraid of "the clique"

Just a thought................................

Dave
