My guess would be that it's the same routine but the pros must be able to tweak it somewhat, not sure about the outfits!

Katie looked stunning in that tango and the dance had a great atmosphere - would love to see it again. Especially since it got a 28 originally so plenty of room to go up.

Can't help feeling it would've got an extra few marks if done a few weeks later on.

That said wouldn't mind seeing her Rumba again either. It was a pleasant surprise to watch an Anton Rumba and not hide behind a cushion.

They used to change the outfits but don't anymore. If the outfits are heavily themed and difficult to remove quickly they do change them a little bit. Like Pasha wasn't completely green the second time he and Chelsee did their Shrek Jive. He still had the ears though.

I don't know, I really doubt they would chose the paso for her as he music and theme are not great for the paso at all really. Usually it's something that has the potential to really be something.

The outfits are now the same, years ago they used to have the same costume, just in a different colour, now it's the exact same costume, but if you have backing dancers, I don't believe you are allowed them in the final.

Yes it was worth more then 28, in a final it could do really well.

I want that dress though, it's stunning and the whole costume and setting of the dance was just beautiful for Katie, I would be really surprised not to see the tango on Saturday as one of her dances.

I absolutely don't want Jay to dance his jive again. As someone earlier said, he really can't improve on how he did dance before so the balance of probability is that he would do it less well. Also, it was a moment in time, so brilliant but if we see it anew, it's not a surprise and we are likely to see faults. I would far rather he danced a dance that was merely very good, and has the potential to be perfect.

For sheer hard work and determination, I'd love Kellie to do well. I know some of us took the pi$$ out of her stage school demeanour but I've become rather fond of her. It's the highlight of the Sunday programme watching whether she'll get there first for the farewell hug, and I really love that now.

I'm completely indifferent to Georgia, for me she hasn't got the personality of Dani or the talent of Chelsee to win me over in the pretty little young thing role. Katie, just not great, but she out danced her partner the other day!

IMO Jay is not doing the jive either because his show dance is a jive based showstopper or the producers decided that he isn't doing it. I think it may be because of the show dance. Aliona will have a reason for it.

Jay is probably not doing the jive because Aliona said before it was a hit or miss dance and that she didn't even expect it to go as well as it went on the night because the dress rehearsal went wrong.

However it is one of the most memorable if not the most memorable dance of the series so it could be a mistake not doing it.

They could be doing a jive based showdance though as it plays to his strengths

I'll actually be disappointed if Katie does something other than the Tango for the judges' choice, given how great it could have been minus the mistake.

(that's assuming she manages to fix that this time around, of course...)

I'm so disappointed if it's true jay and Aliona aren't doing the jive in the final. I've been looking forward to seeing that again. They must know the public want to see it again as why else would they be saying 'we're not doing the jive'. Maybe they'll do a jive based show dance instead.

Maybe aliona is wary of his butter fingers these days so wants to play safe with dance not including any freaky lifts that go wrong .Not sure what the fuss is when the original is there on youtube for those needing to see it again .
As ali said , they got it wrong in rehearsals so were lucky to actually pull it off on the night anyway and might be best not tempting fate .
He'll do as he's told .

Whose Twitter? Aliona tweeted this morning that they wanted to leave the jive in people's memories.

It does no matter what Jay does he could do The Grand Old Duke of York and he would still win.

I doubt it was a very easy choice for Jay. The risk is in doing the jive that it doesn't match up (cue disappointment and lost votes all round), but also that in doing ANO dance that everyone goes "eh? wheres that Jive?" (disappointment and lost votes all round).

On top of that, the judges choice gives them a routine that wasn't that exciting (granted, it might look a lot better danced according to Aliona's intent)

Paying homage to The Jive in the showdance might be the strategically safest option.

I highly doubt that, now he has a grip on things and remembering the choreography. That wouldn't be a factor now.

It's like that in dance, it can go wrong all the time, then you do it on stage and that's it, it's all clicked and most likely will all the time now.

You are right that can be the case (bad rehearsal, great performance) but it isnt always the case and of course anything can go wrong at any point but it is still a factor. Aliona said their jive was 50/50 half the time it was great half the time it went wrong and that was in a week they have nothing else to concentrate on and Jay said last week he was happy he had the vienesse waltz and charleston because at least they were completely different so he couldn't mix them up. They danced the jive in week 3 he has learnt 10 other dances since then so its an issue if they can't be certain that it will go right under the pressure of the final and with people's expectations so high even the smallest mistake would be noticed. If it was up to me they would be doing their tango and jive but it isn't and they have made the decision they think is best.

It used to be that the two dances (excepting the showdance) had to be one Latin, one ballroom. This gave those who were weaker at Latin the option of choosing Charleston as Latin.
If this is still the case, Katie should choose rumba as her Latin unless the judges preempt by taking the Latin option

It hasn't been the case for a while - since the stopped the "one latin/one ballroom" requirement in Series 8 quite a few have done two ballroom or two latin :

Harry - Argentine Tango & Quickstep
Louis - Salsa & Charleston
Denise - Jive & Charleston
Kimberley - Viennese Waltz & Tango
Abbey - Waltz & Quickstep
Caroline - Cha Cha & Charleston
Frankie - Samba & Paso Doble
Mark - Cha Cha & Samba*

*unperformed

(I think Jason was also due to do tango and quickstep as well but I'm not 100%)

Simon did Charleston and AT last year, didn't he? Only ballroom in the entire final was Frankie's showdance. Hoping for a bit more variety this year, instead of two Charlestons and two crappy week one cha chas.

Still, it could be the Foxtrot Final again.

Thanks for that, I'd rather watch Jay sit at the top of the stairs for half an hour. In fact, so much do I hate a foxtrot I'd rather watch Anton sit at the top of the stairs for half an hour 😳😜

I was looking for some really good foxtrots to point out to someone that yes, you can occasionally hit on a really good one. I came up short on ones I really enjoyed. Love it as a base in AS, but on its own? Not so much.

AT and Charleston being nominally ballroom and Latin respectively, so whoops. Brain not quite working. Still means there was a total lack of the usual ballroom in the final last year other than that showdance.

Even though it's arguably her best performance, do you think there is any chance the judges could pick the Charleston for Kellie? It was undermarked and it was early on.

If he doesn't do his Jive, he won't win - simple as that.
