You know when they were on the X Factor I really didn't get it, how they were so hyped. I thought they were over rated.

Credit where its due however...they have evolved. They grew into exactly what they needed to be and they matured with their song writing. They are even played on Radio 2 now, I can now happily listen to them on the Radio.

I don't own any of their albums and probably wont buy one but even if they are just a brand...their one hell of a brand.

That's bloody harsh.

My daughters are fans and I've had to listen to all their music over the years.

I must say they are very talented, all can sing (except louis) and all are great songwriters.

Got a feeling they won't be back, seems to much like goodbye messages rather than "we are taking a break" whatever people say, they have worked awfully hard and specially with boybands there comes that point where mental fatigue sets in and its just simply not the same anymore, it appears that time has come.

I was surprised at how successful 1D became back in 2011, especially when What Makes You Beautiful went top 5 in America.

That said, Story Of My Life will always be the best single 1D released and nothing can take that away from them.

They are not the best singers, but I appreciate the hard work they have put in over the past 5 years and they all seem like lovely down to earth lads. They deserve a break.

You're entitled to your opinion but name me another player called 'world-class' who can't dribble,can't tackle, can't head a ball and was very rarely spotted in the opposition penalty area.

I still remember their auto tuned X factor performances - Tesco Mary beat them in the public vote most weeks until near the end.

One Direction are such an easy target for people with no imagination, but in reality, they ain't that bad.

Name me another player who literally singlehandely took England to the world cup in the very last dying seconds with one of his trademark free kicks.. in fact name me a better dead ball specialist or a better crosser of the ball. I cannot think of many who could compare themselves on that level.

Well they were pretty bad tonight, abysmal I would say, without the autotuning they've obviously got used to over the years and has made them £millionaires. Having to sing live must have been a terrible shock to their systems as none of them were singing in tune.
