Yes I did see him play and he was nowhere near world class . The only winger in world football who never took on the opposition full back as he didn't have the ability to do so. Using a free kick against average opposition to just to qualify for the World Cup isn't an example of greatness. Zidane's volley in a champions league final is an example of greatness
