1 Direction were brilliant tonight.

Have enjoyed their appearances on TV recently - 5 in all. I doubt their gone for good. In fact wouldn't be surprised if Zane doesn't join them. Take that had Robbie back after all. Lots of groups have reformed after years apart but I think they'll be back soon. They deserve the rest, they must be drained. They are writing great songs these days, so may spend time doing that before they return.

I like one direction but I felt their performances tonight were very weak! They paled in comparison to the other acts performing! Hasn't realised Niall Horan such a bad singer live!

For what they are, a boyband, they were very good.

I'm sorry but I thought they were poor.

Poor vocals and non existent stage presence.....and when the music stops their personalities are woeful.

How on earth they have been turned into a global phenomenon with such average abilty I will never understand.

I honestly don't think they were any better or worse than any other time I have heard them, certainly wouldn't say they were brilliant.

Harry and Liam were.

The other two were shite as usual, especially Louis.

They look tired of it all frankly. You can tell they're sick of being part of Cowell's corporate circus troupe. Embarrassing how often Simon kept emphasising they were on a 'BREAK' throughout... just to desperately reassure the potential cash cows (I mean... fans) that they'll be back. I'm sceptical if they will want to tbh. A reunion, a brief greatest hits tour and that'll be it I reckon.

I practically chuckled at Liams attempt at sarcasm at the end when he said they were all happy....they genuinely looked knackered and fed up.

Thought they've looked knackered for ages, sure the cash made up for it.

To me they need the break, and if they actually come back as a group, need to control that side better, and pace themselves.

Totally agree they looked shattered

A break is what they need but i am sure Zayn leaving has spurred them on for this break. I am certain solo material is being lined up for all of them probably except Louis who will obviously be a XF judge next year; it'll help ratings and give the show worldwide attention that is the power of 1D's brand.

To be fair that level of success with the wrong people could go to their heads but they don't seem too bad at all(well part from Zayn).

I've liked all their singles and album's to date although the recent album hasn't been up to their old standard however, a break is due a nice fitting farewell on the show (it's amazing how Cowell treats and speaks of you if you make loads of money would he have done that for an artist who had lets say worked with him for ten years but not made him much money? never, he knows he has to keep them sweet...just what their took last year in revenue is INSANE). I look forward to their solo material. Their level of fame and fans i think they could all bag number 1 singles at some point with the right music.

I think Zayn, Harry and Niall will have Number 1's. Liam will put out a great album that will be critically praised however underperform. Louis will release some poorly thought music that will do so and so success wise. They'll reform with Zayn in a few years. That is all.

Each to their own but how can anyone think that 1d were brilliant?

They're an OK pop group, I imagine they're managed to an inch of their lives though I don't think they write any of their songs......

They just have to learn them and then let the Irish one sing flat and weak live on stage!

They must be exhausted and sick of the sight of each other after the schedule they've had. Personally I just don't see the attraction of any of them. Liam is an adequate singer, Harry has a bit of charisma, the other two seem utterly pointless. I suppose the fact that they are fairly ordinary is what has made them so successful as they will be accessible to the little girls who love them.

I don't know whether this is a break or a way of softening the split blow for the fans, but will they have an audience to come back to? The kids will move on or grow up and do they have any real talent to sustain "adult" careers?
