It's not the first time it's happened.

'The Climb' suited Joe more than Olly

'A Moment Like This' suited Leona more than Ray (didn't Ben Mills walk out when the song was announced?)

Personally I think each contestant should have their own winners song.

It would have been glaringly obvious to Cowell and the producers all week that the winning song would be hopelessly ill suited to R and B and would wreck any chances they had of winning. The fact that they proceeded with the song anyway tells you all you need to know ie. they can't even be bothered to have any semblance of fair play.

Can't wait to read sofabet's take on this.

For those arguing they should be able to sing anything, well I would like to see Louisa having a go at singing afrobeats or reggae.

The sad thing is they didn't need to do this. She was going to win anyway. I think the boys are too nice to say anything but I bet it has soured what has been a brilliant experience for them.”

The audience were literally told to not use their torches for R&B?

I'm a bit skeptical about that, but it is something which can be verified if people who were in that audience come forward and state that yes this was the case.

It's irrelevant who was in the lead in the voting. The manipulation is there to see anyway.
Even if by some miracle R&B won, the points made in this thread still stand. The show was designed to favour Louisa either way.

I think it would have been a step too far to go and change the song to suit their complete inability to sing in tune. They had had more than enough help to get them that far.”

I don't think it's about changing the song. As others have said in previous years different songs have been used in the final and it's just a case of planning ahead to ensure that the winner's song isn't of one flavour.
