I don't think there's anything wrong with what she said and she'll need that attitude to be part of the Syco machine. I'm sure Cowell has already decided which member of 1D or Union J she will be drafted into a showmance with.

That's gross, and I hope you don't actually mean it. She's barely 17. One would hope they'd let her at least hit 18 before tossing her at man-sluts like Harry "Penis Topped By a Shaggy Haircut" Styles.

It'll be George, fresh from his IAC stint. Nice and safe. None of these dirty 1D boys.

Ha-ha, what nonsense. This was the first time I've seen Leona in about 5 years.

Spot on. The test of a good artist is if you heard their voice on the radio would you instantly recognise it? In Louisa's case....definitely no.

Who's being nasty?

Leona is famous in X Factor World. She only seems to exist within the X Factor bubble. In terms of fame in the wider world she isn't on most people's radar unless Simon Cowell ships her in to be a guest on the X Factor.

I think she might be remembered by some in the UK and she can still have some kind of a career in the UK. However outside of the UK she doesn't really factor in people's minds. At best she may have a few people who member her as the girl who sang bleeding love. However she hasn't really been relevant since 2009 outside of the UK and therefore in couple of years she won't even be remembered for that. I think even in the UK eventually she will only be remembered for being associated with the X factor.

It's that way now, true. She DID have a Billboard #1 in the US with Bleeding Love. Her album also went to #1 and Platinum 4x in the US (which is a LOT more copies than Platinum in the UK) and got three Grammy nominations. Then never followed it up. Her second album went to #13 in the US--which is effectively the same as #200 for all the general public who aren't dedicated fans notice it. I don't know if she charted at all in the US after that (or if so somewhere way down).

End of US career. If you mention Leona Lewis in the US currently you'll likely get a blank stare of confusion (the same in both Canada and Australia too, I'd bet).

Spirit was 2 times platinum at best in the US her sales were about 1.6/1.7 million in the US, so probably it received a platinum certification. Bleeding love was 4 times platinum in the US, Platinum in the US is sales of 1 million. Syco/Leona dropped the ball after bleeding love as far as the US/rest of the world was concerned. I think they thought she didn't need to do anymore work and that she was a bonafide superstar. Had she stayed and promoted more singles from Spirit, actually toured and released a better second album I think her career might have gone down a different path. I'm not sure if she would have had a really long worldwide career but i think she could definitely have got a few more years out of if better choices were made. Now she hasn't really got a legacy/hasn't really made an impact on the music scene.

It does look a little iffy. If you think that you want to live like the next Rihanna/Beyonce, but haven't even won (ofc she now has) it's a bit premature.

If she's in the whole thing for fame rather than just to sing and be her best, then she may be in for a rocky ride. Syco have dropped the ball on bigger and better singers, so she has to be careful.

One direction have. The only time we see Leona now is when she gets wheeled out on the X factor. Otherwise she is MIA.

Considering she's worth about £24 million, I would say she's done a but more than just appearing on the x factor every now and then unless they pay extremely well!

I'd be more impressed if she had said "I just want to make music people will like"
She has said "I'm sure Simon Cowell does have ideas for me but I have ideas too!"
Didn't Steve Brookstein say something like that ?
She has also said that she wants a distinctive sound, but I just heard her winner's song and she's putting on an American accent just like almost every other British female pop star

The 'distinctive sound' bit is truly baffling to me because if I heard her on the radio I wouldn't know it was her without being told. And given it would be the usual roster of Syco writers and producers at the helms the production will likely be rather identikit too.

I imagine she'd be suited to guest spots on old-skool house records - those sorts of bellowing diva vocals that get the energy up in a club but are essentially pretty anonymous, but I can't imagine what her own artistic identity would be. She just seems totally blank to me.
