Seconded.

It makes a change from some of the snidey and some of the downright nasty posts that have become increasingly prevalent on this forum in the last week or so.

On the subject of Georgia I have made no secret of the fact she was my choice from day one, as a big Corrie fan & Nothing I have seen throughout the series has changed that!!
I find her youthful exuberance & enthusiasm both endearing & infectious and I see nothing wrong with showing a bit of emotion!! It's an intense environment & affects different contestants different ways!!
As regards her behaviour towards the other contestants I certainly haven't seen a problem, she seems to be one of the group & popular amongst them, the genuine disappointment from them when she landed in the dance off was testament to that!!
When she did land in the dance off she was nothing but gracious aboutthe wuality of the opposition she was up against & made a point of going to hug Helen before she performed!! She struggled to hide her joy at getting through after the show but why would she??
Regarding her behaviour on semi final night my heart went out to the poor girl!! She was just so obviously completely out of sorts & still feeling lousy but like a little trooper she put herself out there & got through it with sheer determination, delivering two routines that, whilst not her best were certainly worthy of the comments & scores that they received!! When she was stood waiting to hear her fate on the results show she looked like she would rather be anyehere else & almost like she didn't care if she went through or not!! With this in mind I found it rather cruel & unnecessary to make her wait till the end to tell
her she was through, but that's entertainment I guess!! She did at least manage to give Katie a smile & I don't think she was rude in her celebrating but others may disagree!!
I think if ever Georgia writes her autobiography, Strictly semi finsls eeek eill probably be recorded as a nightmare she managed to get through if I'm guessing!!

Anyway I waffle, in summary Georgia to me is a delight to watch, has provided us with some of Strictly 2015's most memorable moments ( tango, samba, American smooth, that Charleston) & I salute her & will be supporting her in the final on saturday as I think the best dancer, generally & one of the most likable, down to earth & genuine Strictly contestants for years!!

Good luck to all on Saturday & Good night!!”

What a lovely post! And totally agree with everything you said! As the judges said she is the best 'all rounder' and wish them the very best on Saturday!

But, while I will be supporting team GG in the final I wish all the finalists the very best and who ever wins I'm sure will be worthy of the glitter ball and I hope everyone will congratulate them whoever they are!

But some of us find it annoying. I do when Kellie does it too. Save it for when and if they lift the glitterball.

I like Giovanni, he seems sweet and considerate, I don't dislike Georgia, I just don't feel a deal for her either way. She dances nicely. There I tried.

Sorry, but you have to accept: she just isn't anywhere near as popular as we are led to believe, nor as likeable as they desperately want her to be!

The whole "Aw, she's really come out her shell" thing is utter nonsense (check out her week 1 Jive!!! Or her early Rumba! Me see no shell!?)

The endless crying at EVERYTHING (happy, sad, poorly, whatever). The undisguisable smugness. The voice/accent. The excessive make-up. The pouting. The "pocket rocket"-small/cute-schtik, which hasn't worked for anyone, ever...! (erm, apart from Team Cola, maybe )

The sour grape reaction to being in the dance-off. The sourpuss face caught on camera reacting to other dancers. The sore throat saga - which was blown out of all proportion, and was even blamed as a result of being voted into the dance-off!! (on ITT). Blimey. That's hardly going to get the audience on your side.

The overlooked mistakes. The over-marking. The dull partner. The shrieking. Did I mention the crying?
I won't mention the previous dancing experience, as now that Anita has been booted, it hardly seems relevant...

But the last straw for me, was their reaction(s) to being saved from the dance off, whenever they were left until last to be named safe... Now, if you are someone who happens to notice these things (or even if you're just someone who appreciates politeness & good manners), you will perhaps be aware that is customary, in this particular situation, to refrain from overly joyous-celebrations (eg jumping around, fist pumping, screaming, and so on), but instead; to simply look relieved, and to quickly offer looks of concern and/or commiserations for the unfortunate couple who have just learnt their not-so-lucky fate.

Georgia & Giovani did not even acknowledge Katie & Anton, in any way whatsoever. They were far too busy going completely bonkers with glee at being in the final, to realise that just a few feet away, stood a couple who might be about to dance their last ever dance, and thus fall at the final hurdle.
A hurdle they themselves had only just cleared, thanks to blatant mis-marking & ludicrously negative judge's comments made towards the other couple.

You can't put this down to bad editing - It was bad manners, pure & simple. To be oblivious to the misfortune of others is one thing, but to celebrate your own good fortune at the expense of another's, whilst stood within consolation distance, is something else.

Sure, I'm being petty, pedantic & rather pathetic (it's what I do best) but the fact remains : people notice these things. Little things... but lots of little things - which just happen to mean a lot, and add up to a great deal.

So, no, Georgia will not be getting my votes.
I did like her Jive, Rumba, and maybe Samba, but that's about it. Really disliked her Paso. The rest was all pretty forgettable - especially her ballroom (it's her favourite, you know!!! Hmm...)

Cheerio! ”

I find it a bit pathetic to write such a long negative post about someone you don't know or like in a dance competition to be honest with you.

In fact I don't think I've ever disliked anyone in Strictly it's about dancing not personality. Do they dance well? Yes? Good for them hope they do well. Do they not dance well? No? Good for them at least they're giving it a go.

Georgia and Giovanni have been one of my favourite couples in how they've worked together. It's fashionable on the boards to say 'I forgot about Georgia' but she's done some of the dances I've enjoyed the most, and I'm still watching the Charleston!

And as far as the pharyngitis goes - it's very painful and debilitating, I don't think she's claimed to be the only person to deal with illness or other issues during practice, but I can certainly understand why she was a bit low key on Saturday.

It happens every year unfortunately, such a shame as we only have one more week of Strictly .... would the posters make these comments directly to the person they're insulting? I don't think so.

The "doctor" giving his diagnosis in the training room slapped of sympathy vote desperation. As has been said upthread, Jay missed a day of training to go to his grandfather's funeral and asked for zero mention/fuss to be made about it. I've lost some respect for Georgia on this one.

This is how I feel. She looks very, very pretty and dances prettily but ...........

The judges are always raving about her topline but I always think she looks as if she is leaning back too far but what do I know.

Seeing how nasty the comments have become in a week, in a way I'm glad that there's only a week left

IF that's a sideways swipe at my earlier comment - you will notice that I have been careful NOT to attribute any poster or specific type of comment to any "nastiness".

Big Georgia fan here. Lovely dancer and genuinely having a ball.
Love Jay for the same reason.
And Katie - but with less of the dancer bit.

Sometimes it's better (IMHO) to directly point out the posts you perceive to be "nasty" because a generalised post such as yours just leaves people wondering. I am sure plenty of people think it's "nasty" to criticise Georgia for appealing for sympathy votes but, again IMO, it was a pretty poor show.

I was a little disappointed that so much of the VT and ITT on Friday was dedicated to telling us about Georgia being ill - it smacked of looking for sympathy votes and it was reflected in the judges votes for her Cha Cha Cha.

I hope this week that we will have no more "I'm not a trained dancer" (Katies new claim?!!) and other sympathy garnering videos.
Let the best dancer win on the night without canvassing for votes for any other reason other than their performance

Going off-topic, but direct references would probably cause much friction and argumentative replies (as well as being off-topic). Perhaps everyone needs to consider whether what they post is fair, reasonable and just before they post it!

Suffice to say, the rather agreeable and cosy air that used to be prevalent on this forum has diminished greatly from my perspective. And after all, it's only a telly programme. So not really worth getting het up about.

How much of this (and similar) is down to the producers wanting to spin a story rather than the couple in question?

It certainly pays a part but the celebrities cannot be forced into a story if they don't want to comply.

True.

Well you could then say that GG were ill-advised or felt that they should go along (again, we don't know the behind-the-scenes details so anything more is speculative)

Totally unnecessary. I don';t think you are, in your own words, "petty, pedantic and pathetic", (may agree with you on the latter), but this was nasty and not called for. And no, I';m not a Georgia fan especially, but I do like her dancing.

Yeah she should have totally wasted the training time she had left arguing with the producers over something so trivial just to please DS members.

How many times have we got told Kellie's can't train as much because of Eastenders or Anita has no dance background or Jay suffers from nerves. Yet Georgia mentions she's sick one week and suddenly it's crime to do or say anything that might get you even one or two 'sympathy votes'.

Or she could have spent the training time .. er ... training instead of filming a "doctor" giving her the diagnosis?
