I'm now confident that next year's X Factor will be the last.

Next year's is the last one that is part of the current contract, and I really can't see this show being renewed beyond then. The hype isn't there anymore, just look at the forum - it's dead compared to final night in earlier years! The viewers are disappearing by the year and (just like American Idol) this show is in terminal decline. Quite frankly it deserves to be.

Louisa's song doesn't seem to be doing as well as previous years based on early iTunes chart movements.

Yes, the show seems to have had it's day. People are very very cynical about the show now and I don't see that changing.

I think the next series will probably be a desperate attempt to find the next One Direction. Anyone not a fan of boybands should probably give it a miss.

The show needs a saviour, someone who can teach these people what real singing is really all about.

It can't come soon enough IMO.

I wouldn't be so sure I can see x factor having more series . It ended up more of a mess with less liveshows next year it'll be better.

Given ITV is losing Downton Abbey not sure how easy they will find it to fill all those Weekend autumn and winter evenings?

What would they replace it with?

They really don't need to axe it. Even at 6 million, it's very healthy in ITV ratings terms, only beaten by IAC and Corrie. A show getting 3 million would still be in the weekly Top 20 on ITV.

Given that this year was all about ensuring Louisa's win, next year will probably be all about Louisa's return performance.

If I was an aspiring singer I would avoid it like the plague. The brand is irreversibly damaged.

With eleven previous X Factor contestants now being millionaires, it's probably still worth a shot!

It may get another re brand but i doubt the format is going anywhere. Its still worth a lot of money and from looking it up it was signed for another 3 years in 2013, so their should be atleast another series.

I understand the ratings being low because some of the song choices were dreadful and the winners single is the worst so far but its a cash cow and i can't see Simon Cowell dropping it. Its probably paying for the cosmetic surgery that is the reason he can't wink properly when introduced anymore.

I'm not sure about that. Leona Lewis has done ok.
The xfactors biggest problem is that its basically a popularity contest and thats resulted in some pretty rubbish winners.
Personally i think the format needs changing so people who are clearly unmarketable don't get to the live shows in the first place and the themes need dropping so contestants strengths are shown, rather than their weaknesses.

The ratings have been quite good. I guess you're trying to make a point, but it's coming up to its fifth series now. I have all but given up on the X Factor but The Voice has always had a great mix of judges. Poaching Rita and plonking her on the X Factor panel was idiotic, it's the mix that counts, not individuals. We'll see, but I can't imagine ITV improving The Voice at all. The breaks will instantly make it worse.

What do you men by "barely started"? It isn't due to air until next month. The four series so far have averaged over 8 million viewers and the average has risen in the last three years.

Yes but Leona was way before the brand became tarnished.

From Googling it, the last final on the BBC had the lowest ratings so far and even if it hadn't that doesn't change the fact it basically has no success stories.

I disagree with that. Steve Brookstein won it before her.

Agreed. Had Louisa's win been a tough competition for her, the series could have been remotely entertaining. But it was all so manipulated and set up that has been the worst series ever.

My prediction is ITV now have the 'Voice' so I see that either replacing the Xfactor completely or being combined in some way with elements of both shows format being included.

Lol you think that would stand any chance against Strictly?

Without ads and on BBC1 it gets a few 100k more than XF, it's not their saving grace regardless of what you fanboys convince yourselves.

Can you expand on the bit in bold?

Could it not just have been that she won because she was actually very good?

Crazy theory, I know.
