I think it made me realise how little the general public actually hear from Leona. It was a bit of a wake up call and reality check. I feel like she's a part of my daily life. I listen to her music almost everyday and I come on here pretty much every day, even if it's just to read what's going on. But for people who don't, and just generally listen to the radio etc, Leona has been quiet since One More Sleep. It was the last song to make impact. And because she doesn't promote it now (not that it's her fault, because of the labels) it isn't charting or being streamed as much as it should be.
Wham, Mariah and Andy Williams were all in the top 10 of UK streaming this week. Leona should have been much higher. One More Sleep was #1 on iTunes just two years ago. It's the most recent Christmas hit yet it feels like it's not getting that recognition. And it's an absolute TUNE.
She just can't keep having these quiet periods. It's fine when you go quiet for a couple of years and you come back and have Spirit or Echo impact (I know them sales aren't realistic now for most people in the industry, that's why I said impact). Ed Sheeran, Taylor Swift and Adele can afford to go quiet for periods because when they come back, the GENERAL public knows.
As a Leona fan, I see that this year she's released an album, done a sh*t load of US promo etc, but the general public wouldn't know this. You don't hear her new music on the radio, you don't see her new music videos on the music channels. The VEVO views are shocking compared to main pop artists.
I don't want to sound like a right negative idiot. When it comes to Leona, I try and be as positive as possible. And I love her. But like I said, I feel like I had a bit of a reality check this Christmas to how little impact Leona has had this past year and how something needs to be done. These quiet periods can't continue where there's months of no news. Or we get a short tour of small venues in the UK, then she goes into the studio "looking for hits" for the rest of 2016. There's no point looking for hits if she doesn't maintain a decent profile, because even if she gets the best songs, radio won't play them because of her current status.”
but her songs are played all over the world everyday on radio..over on twitter theres a constant posts of songs played all over...people are aware of her just not what she is doing..
