Leona has a world class voice and should be getting songs from world class composers, like ALW. Not trying to interest pop radio with stupid dance tracks.

Yeah I agree, she needs to be getting in touch with world class composers, that's not to say they have to be 'stupid dance tracks' there's so many fantastic songwriters who create timeless records, look at We Found Love, that song is beautiful and will stand the test of time, like Bleeding Love, Leona would thrive in the music industry again if she worked with some top people, Ryan Tedder/Sia/Calvin Harris, I'm just trying to figure out why she doesn't want to create a new killer anthem 🤔 like I said earlier I hope Cats will inspire her to think big one last time, I don't feel she is ready to leave music behind just yet.

You're acting like she has been releasing albums with less known, basic songwriters... As stated many times Leona didn't have any financial back up by any label when recording. yes she may have lots of money but the album was recorded in the first place with help of Toby to just record and write songs about her situation. It's then that Toby suggested to send it to labels, and obviously Leona asked Toby to work on the whole album.

There might be a few, but Toby, Diane Warren, Naughty Boy are definitely not just basic writers..

That's the difference between pop and musical theater. In MT, you sing the song the way the composer wants it sung to express HIS meaning.

Emotion has nothing to do with it. Ive said this before but MT requires different singing technique, which Leona has but over the past years didnt use it often anymore. Like I daid, this will do her voice good

I think it's good. I've not really heard her sing like this before. I think you're right that to some extent the performance is managed more by the composer. But I think it's all relative to the ability of the performer. I only heard Memory when Leona did it and listened to the Nicola Scherzinger's version which sounded great. I'm not saying Leona's performance is objectively better but I prefer it. Scherzinger's felt a bit like she was laying the acting on a bit thick. But that's just my opinion and I'm not really familiar with Nicola Scherzinger.

i've been reading this thread for days and what i noticed is that you, without being rude or disrespctful, twells, kind of spread a lot of negativity which is sad because we all experience leona from another perspective than just her pop music / opera side.
We all saw, how excited and happy leona is with her role in cats and should appreciate that she even got the opportunity to do this!
I am really looking forward to what is coming next - maybe the release of OWTK, or the full version memory

I watched Nicole's performance at the Olivier Awards in full and in HD and wasn't that impressed ( especially by the belting at the end ), but I was stunned by Leona's 2-min low qualify video. In my opinion there's no comparison, but Nicole doesn't lean on her looks only ( *couch* Cheryl ) and I respect that. Her songs don't do her justice.

If you watch Nicole's performance at some Andre Bocelli event or from the actual production, she did sound great. Agree the Oliver performance is off.

I don't really follow musical theater. But going from "Hamilton," we could get the official cast recording of Cats as early as late August. Hamilton opened on Broadway in August 2015 and a cast recording as released a month later. Since "Cats" starts official shows on July 31st, I'm assuming it would get a recording release around September 1st. They seem to have things up to October, so idk if it's just because the show hasn't officially opened yet.
