Look at this film it looked like everything at first was doom to failure. This is a true story as the Telstar hit became the first British record top the US Billboard Chart, this was before The Beatles.
Sorry Bunnies going on a bit, back to Leona!
You see even half a century ago promotion was a major part of pop music, why do they feel different about Leona Lewis?
With all this secrecy about Leona Lewis' music releases will we (The bunnies!) become a "SECRET' society ('ECHO"ing the Freemasons), going behind closed doors and standing in sand making 'FOOTPRINTS IN THE SAND' as we dance to Leona's music. Will we need to do some kind of 'Bunny ears greeting' with our fingers on both sides of the head to recognise fellow fans. Mind you if you play Adele or Ed Shering on your phone whilst outside, don't worry most people will think you are just another member of the public in town.”
I think the reasons for Leona's career stalling in the past and her not being as successful as she could have been with Echo, Glassheart was largely down to Syco mishandling her promo, release strategy etc.
However, I think it's not 100% correct to say that lack of promo is the reason I Am hasn't been successful. She got a decent amount of promo/playlisting for FUMF in uk and Thunder in US but there are bigger issues at play now. Mainly the material not being right (still no standout hit) and the general public/radio just not being interested in her new music.
Promo is only effective if she has a hit to promote and if people are interested. The problem now is that tv and radio think nobody cares about her new material so are less likely to book her during crowded release periods, unless of course she is performing Bleeding Love or Run for a special event.
I hope it clicks for Leona next album and she can achieve some level of commercial success again.
