Just bought one of these 50" TVs and really impressed with it (I hear you saying you should be at the price!). Most impressed by the quality of the built in software (based on Firefox). I didn't really expect to make much use of the inbuilt TV functions as I have Tivo and the latest Apple TV as well. However, the basic TV and catch up features are very slickly designed and also very fast (compared for example with Tivo which is chronic). PQ is also superb as expected, upscaling to 4K seems pretty good.

Good you got the 5 year warranty from John Lewis.

My last TV was from there 2 years ago £720, Samsung smart 3D, with freesat and free view.

The apps and catch up and Netflix etc., get used constantly, and the old Sky dish is plugged into TV for channels.

Panasonic themselves are offering a free 5 year warranty on many of their TVs at the moment, so you don't need to buy it from John Lewis (just any retailer that is on the list).

We bought our CX802 from an independent and was able to claim for the 5 year warranty on ther website. (wouldn't want to go to JL anyway, the nearest one is a 150 mile round trip away)

The only problem I have with mine is that it's supposed to be able to do 4:4:4 colour at 4K 60hz but mine doesn't want to let me.

It's also a proper manufacturers warranty, from a company with full service facilities - very different to what JL offer (but you can't complain for free ).

I bought mine from the local Panasonic dealer...the warranty is 6 years!

I spent all morning today setting up the tv to how I would like it.

Pretty good now that I set it to my liking

One question I need to ask....do I need a 4K compatible HDMI lead fitted from my amp to the TV? I have all my AV items going through my amp and one HDMI lead to the TV.
My Yamaha AV receiver does 4K up scaling and pass through.

If you see an HDMI lead with "4k Compatible" plastered all over the packaging avoid it like the plague as it will likely be using that as an excuse to rip you off! Any High Speed HDMI cable can handle 4k if it is properly made and meets the specs for that rating of cable.

http://www.hdmi.org/consumer/finding_right_cable.aspx

So if all your cables are already High Speed then you already have a 4k compatible cable, assuming they are not really rubbish quality.

It will be the same in 2017 when 8k TV is out, they will try and sell us new fancy £10 HD cables for that as well, when our old cables will work fine.

I bought a high speed cable to fit to my Blu Ray from the amp, but the other cables I have are Sky ones I have had for many years.

Thanks Chris

I have heard that some older Sky leads could be Standard Speed which is officially rated to 1080i only but very often work OK at 1080p. Whether they would also work at 4k is another matter.

But as I said any decently made High Speed cable will do for 4k so you don't have to spend thousands on a bit of wire (which you can easily do if you are stupid enough )

Richer Sounds are doing a price match and £100 trade in on this TV.

Not sure how trade in's work though.

There's a good selection of 4k on Netflix, if not already a subscriber and you have at least 25Meg BB connection, you can get a free month to try it, if you want a bit longer to watch more of the 4k content it's only £8.99 a month.

Watched The Ridiculous 6 in 4k the other night, a Netflix original movie with Adam Sandler, some scenes were very 3D like not a bad movie either, typical Sandler style.

Looks and sounds great but it looks as though you need a table as wide as the tv to stand it on, would buy it except for that.

Idiots with more pound coins in their pockets than functioning brain cells between their ears.

There is a metal frame running around the back that would support the tv, but I accept it's far from ideal.
My AV stand is wider than the tv.

No doubt

I've always said that high resolution is better for 3d than using 3d glasses.

One day it will hopefully be like looking out of a window.

Regarding 3D...I bought some Samsung SSG-P51002 glasses today for my CX802 @ £18-50 for 2 pairs.
Much cheaper than the Panasonic ones...they work perfectly.
