TBH yep and as much as I dislike Cowell for corrupting the minds of the younger singers, I simply do NOT condone this behaviour by Brookstein. He has totally lost the plot and is embarrassing himself beyond belief.

He's had a very sad last 12 years of his life. When will he finally move on?? By the sounds of it, never!

I don't doubt that some of what he says about XFactor is true but I still can't believe people here are defending him?? But hey, he's anti-Cowell so people here worship him by default.

He was an average singer anyways, a white man with a so called "soulful" voice (semi - soulful if you ask me) it was bound to win the first ever Xfactor, put him in there in 2016 he would not even get past bootcamp. Im anti -Cowell to an extent, anti where I just want people/THE KIDS to see he is NOT about talent and I will use every word in the dictionary to fight my case even the ones beginning with F, but I would never make it personal. Simon is not evil, he is a businessman, looking to make a quick buck, that is all. Why do some people feel the need to make things personal when things don't go their way though? Maybe it is insecurity, you know what? I bet Steve reads these forums too, Steve you suck man, at singing and in life.

What a boring, bitter little man.

The reactions to the article are laughable. Exactly the reaction the gutter press hopes for and people lap it up and assume however things are being portrayed are the facts.

The things he says are mostly tongue in cheek. People blast him for joking Cowell will play the sympathy card about his mother. HELLO! The show plays that card almost every year (less so this year) dragging out dead relative/friends/pets etc. The guy who sang about his dead mate that made Simon cry on air this year.

Look at this article of complete utter rubbish before you swallow everything you read: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/ar...dailymailceleb

Its just laughable really.

His comments are a little insensitive, but there's no denying he's absolutely right. He's saying what many of us in this forum have said.

The way you always jump to defend him, whatever he does, I've always assumed you work for his Majestic Highness King Simon of High Trousers.

The guy is entitled to his opinion, nothing wrong with that.

He's so boring. I take it 'Getting Over The X' is a work in progress because he's shown absolutely no sign of getting over anything in the past 10 years. Get over it, nobody gives a shit.

Agreed - what Steve doesn't realise is that he came across as extremely unlikeable as soon as he walked in the audition room. The way he presented himself was awful. I don't deny that his XF experience had an extremely negative impact on his life, but based on what we saw he was a nasty piece of work before that anyway.

And I never heard ANY soul in his voice personally. A lot of people gave Sharon grief when she said that he was more suited to easy listening (mainly due to the way she said it!) but she was dead right.

Was he really unlikable during the series?
I have to admit I never watched the series but I would have thought he must have come across well at that point to be so popular with the public.

Sharon didn't get grief for saying he was easy listening, she said "He's not what he seems. Believe me, all that BS that he gives out every week. He's even fooled Simon! He's full of cr*p and he's an average singer. Ask everyone else on this contest, he's overly confident."

That was her critique of his performance in the final. No wonder the public responded.

Sure, because I think he's a sour old man and don't 100% agree with a Syco slanderer that must make me Simon! #logic

Wow, the programme was far superior back then with comments from both Louis and Sharon were straight to the point and no bullshit, credit to Steve Brookstein he took it on the chin and said nothing bad back. Makes you realise how crap it's all become.

I don't think you have to view him in such a binary way as 'for' or 'against'. I think it's perfectly possible just to consider him an arsehole who was screwed over by another arsehole.

Do I have some sympathy for him? Yes

Do I have some empathy for him? Yes.

Do I consider him an arsehole? Yes

Do I consider the treatment he got from Cowell/Clifford/Syco to be egregious? Yes

Etc etc

I'll stop. But you might need a fairly in-depth poll, possibly a census to get any kind of clear representation of my position on him

Yeah- I've always seen him as a relatively unpleasant man who got treated worse than he deserved by nastier people. The final that year was just unpleasant to watch- Sharon also made comments about his girlfriend after his first performance and Louis Walsh compared him to Fred West earliar in the week. I'm not sure they would get away with that nowadays if you consider the reaction to Natalia Kills on X Factor New Zealand.

BiB- really? WTF?

'You're like a little Fred West'

Mind you I can sort of see it....
