I take it the answer is either no or nobody gives a chit we long since gave up having any interest in him as a singer.

As XF draws to a close it would be interesting to know how many of the acts are actually still performing making their living from music.

Steve benefitted in first season from having Simon as his mentor. A far few folks wanted Simon to win. Remember he was loved by the audience in those days and this was the first time you'd had this mentoring contest.

And I never heard ANY soul in his voice personally. A lot of people gave Sharon grief when she said that he was more suited to easy listening (mainly due to the way she said it!) but she was dead right.”

I actually think Steve was very talented. I still remember him singing that duet with Lloyd at bootcamp and thinking it was amazing even though I was very young at the time. Now, its obvious he is a bit of a tit. The irony was that Sharon pointing out that he was a tit made him more popular with the public because it seemed like a witch hunt. He's been treated like a piece of dog turd on a shoe by the media because of issues with X factor and Sycho but fair is fair, he had an extremely good voice.

Exactly what was said at his first audition. Good voice shame about the attitude.

Look who he was sitting next to at second audition!

Everything he says is spot on, but the problem is - nobody cares as we haven't personally been hard done by by it.

Nobody, and I mean nobody, deserved the abuse Steve Brookstein got off of Sharon Osbourne in 2004's X Factor. It was revolting. In all honesty Sharon should've been removed from the show.

That X Factor audition video makes me realise just how good the X Factor used to be. The raw atmosphere to the auditions where we actually believed an 'everyday' person could be found to be a star.

Now it's all highly edited, slick, planned and organised way in advance - and in front of a massive audience. Lost it's original charm and warmth.

BIB - And before.

Of the two, I much prefer Steve Brookstein to Sharon Osborne.

He may be over the top sometimes on Twitter, but if you had your life screwed over and spent the last 11 years of unfair treatment, you could be forgiven for venting out anger.

People never gave him the respect he deserved, he had a great voice and was probably the most natural winner the show has ever had

Several people mentioned SB's book so I thought I'd have a look at on Amazon.

Just look at the price.

If I had a copy, I'd be selling it right now.

Good God, it's probably the most valuable thing he's ever done!

Isn't it available as an ebook though? I'm sure I was able to read the first page or something on my iPhone via the kindle app.

Yes it is and the kindle edition is a much more affordable £2.29.

I was just shocked at the hardback price that some folk are charging.

I enjoy reading his Tweets and have read his book. He is right in a lot of ways but then we all know the show is manipulated from the start. I am surprised he hasn't been seen yet on Big Brother or IACGMOH.

Tell him to get over it and he will tell you that you're a Max Clifford lapdog. Says it all about him

I follow him on twitter! He does bully people on twitter, but if you say something. You're are a MC supporter, which is stupid. I do believe he was treated very badly, but he needs to move on.

I read somewhere (here most likely) that he was a poster here but was banned.

I wonder why?

Is there anything really earth shattering though? The thing is the first series was manipulated for a Steve win which is probably part of why Sharon flipped a gasket in the final. Not right but it came after a highly manipulative VT. What I never understood is why Steve didn't capitalise on his exposure. The public were with him / on his side. Sharon was vilified in the tabloid press in the days afterwards. Even after he was dropped he could have risen above and taken his fans with him. It never seemed that he wanted to cultivate the broad spectrum of folks who voted for him. He stuck to a small clique who bought into the bitterness / poor me stuff. He is somehow one of those people who is happiest being defeatist. How many others on XF have shook themselves down after the initial fame/success has died down and kept positive. Moving on taking advantage of opportunities that may not have come their way without XF.

It's out of print so the price has skyrocketed.

You can get the ebook version for £2.29 if you have a kindle or an iPad etc

My husband asked if I'd like a kindle for Christmas, but I said no - I like old fashioned books

I do browse charity shops a lot so you never know, I might come across it some day
