Hello all, this pensioner is thinking of buying an iphone 6s
Can I buy it outright as I dont want it on a contract and using the same number as I have now ?

If so what storage would you advise Ive got about 2,000 songs to put on it
Wont be playing any games Maybe. Downloadiing a movie now and again and some photos

Thanks for your advise and help coming my way 👍

You can buy it directly from Apple ( http://www.apple.com/uk/shop/buy-iphone/iphone6s ) or other stores unlocked and use your current number. You will probably need to swap your SIM card with a Nano SIM card. This is very easy with all networks and in most cases free (or a small one-time fee).

Personally, I would suggest going for the 64GB because it is future proof in terms of storage. The 16GB model will probably be full very soon and you might need to make space for software updates. The 128GB model is for those who need to store lots of data and record 4K video. Here is Apple's official guidelines about memory options:

iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus come in three storage sizes: 16GB, 64GB and 128GB. The term ‘GB’ stands for gigabytes. The more gigabytes you have, the more content you can store on your iPhone, such as apps, games, photos, HD videos, music and films. For example, if you have a large music or photo library or lots of apps, it’s a good idea to consider an iPhone with a larger storage capacity. If you rarely download apps or you don’t take many photos or videos, an iPhone with a smaller capacity may be better for you. When deciding which size to choose, be sure to consider how your storage needs may change over time.

You can certainly buy them outright and use your existing sim card if you wish. I actually upgraded initially to a 64gb 6s but found my local CEX had a 128gb model so traded up again as I needed the space - I've got 9,500 songs on mine

With the 6s at the moment, you can only get 16gb, 64gb and 128gb, and I think 16gb wouldn't quite be enough for you so you'd have to really look at the 64gb version.

An A-Grade (which is basically new) unlocked 64gb iPhone 6s from CEX will set you back £560 quid at the moment.

If you intend keeping the iPhone long term I would suggest buying it direct from Apple (who offer consumer law support for 2 years on phones sold direct) or John Lewis who offer there 2 year warranty.

As others say, buy the 64GB model to give yourself plenty of of space for the future, brand new from Apple or JL will cost £619.

I'd buy it from Apple direct. I bought my 128GB iPhone 6S plus directly from Apple and I was able to get Apple care plus for it.

You've already got all the info you need above, but I'll just add your making a wise choice going with the 6S, they are absolutely superb at everything, well worth the money. Just remember aswell even 2-3 years after you've bought it,they still hold their money well if you were to sell and upgrade, another good thing about iPhones

worth buying the extra warranty (Apple Care plus) from Apple if you go that route. Eye poppingly expensive though, which is probably why JL are doing well out of their ' price includes 2 years' warranties.

I don't know if you buy from JL that you have quite the same level of warranty though. Someone on here probably does know.

John Lewis only covers manufacturing defects, apple care plus covers accidental damage and manufacturing defects,

That isn't unique to iPhones.

I've always liked Sony in-ear ear phones, great sound quality and reasonable prices, the ones I have pretty much cancel out all the noise around you too. If you can afford the Bose then go for it, best headphones out there.
