Duncan beat me to it, but it was in the episode I remember the presenter BUT did not catch her name at the time.

If bad wolf messages are being hidden in this way then it is pretty clear that the bad wolf is nothing more than an in joke by the producers/writers/directors etc

I think this was a genuine error either on the part of the show's researchers or the presenter, Alexander Armstrong.

Incidentally, Paul Merton was VERY complimentary about this series, saying that he thought AOL was the best episode yet, and that the programme in general was a 'triumph'.

Given that the HIGNFY panellists usually waste no time in cutting people down to size, this was praise indeed!

The French for Big Bad Wolf is Le Gros Méchant Loup, but that doesn't look much like an English name.

Pass1 = bison - we all knew that
Pass2 = Buffalo - this was revealed this week
but there is a third one listed
Pass3 = buffallo - this doesnt do anything (yet) but it is there

I'd just like to add my thoughts on this episode and the arc storyline...

Not as good as the first three episodes, I thought that these two were much more aimed at a younger audience.

I thought Mickey's character came to life a bit more and I would like to see more of him in the future, however I do not think he will survive for long (he is beginning to know too much about this Doctor)!

I still do not believe CE is THE Doctor, I do not remember him being linked to death all the time (in previous encarnations), as Mickey alluded to again in this episode. Also Mickey is referring to the Doctor as implying "I'm the big bad wolf and it's way past your bedtime." on his web site.

Others that have known more about the CE character have all been mysteriously killed off

well I liked ep 4 & 5 but I can understand why some people aren't that keen. I think part of the problem was that the team was new (4 & 5 was filmed first with "Rose") and people aren't that keen on Keith Boack.

However, the future directors should provide some improved viewing (plus, the show is now entering a very dark faze!!)

That was me. I usually find that sort of stuff very, very tiresome. It's just a cheap attempt to look clever. It comes across as smug and self-congratulatory. :yawn:

Davies could at least try and be subtle with it, instead of being so glaringly obvious.

Mainly I'd say the main problem with 4 & 5 was it was all just a bit too silly, didn't you find that? Probably the main reason everyone stopped watching it in the 80s.

That name doesn't appear on screen in the actual episode. At times we only hear her voice on the television as the camera points at the people watching it, and at others we only see bits of the screen.

So that reference is a web-only thing.

All adds to the mystery and fun and if at the end of the series we have been lead up the garden path then I will be the first to have a little chortle to myself....would have had 13 weeks of jolly good debate though too.

On second viewing I've just noticed the change in the Doctor towards Mickey.

At the end the Doctor actually invites Mickey onboard the Tardis, but Mickey says he couldn't handle the life, but the Doctor isn't to tell Rose that.

So when a moment later Rose asks Mickey to join her the Doctor steps in and makes a big show of saying Mickey would be a liability - which is not what the Doctor now thinks. He says that in direct fulfilment of Mickey's request for the Doctor not to make him appear a wimp in front of Rose.

That exchange almost looks like some sort of bond forming between the Doctor and Mickey.

Great episode this week, I am sure its getting better every week. Trailer for next week looks fantastic.

Just watching Dr Who Confidential on BBC3, I think Peter Davison is losing his marbles. He just said there was only a day between cliff hangers when he played the doctor, so you didn't have to wait long to know the out come. Can't understand why he said this, Dr Who was weekly in the 1980s.

They "experimented" with the format in Peter Davison's time by putting it on twice a week on weekdays.

Do you think there is a bit of jealousy between the Doctor and Jackie? At the end of the episode when Rose invited him for tea The Doctor did put her on the spot and make her choose between them.

Perhaps it is because the Doctor has no family of his own or no home planet any more...

I think there IS something about Bad Wolf.

But I also think there is a bit of leg pulling/garden path/red herring.

When the time is right, we will be shown what was real and what wasn't.

For example, on the Unit website there is mention of 13 soldiers lost on he Russian Steppes - a reference to Steppenwolf? (the book, not the band) (or does someone like the band, not the book???).

Confused? We will be!

Aw I hope Mickey lasts in it a while actually, it's quite refreshing to have a character who isn't brave and does get frightened. I like him, I'd like to see him join the Doctor and Rose in their travels in series two...

The Bad Wolf could be a big hoax, the other night on the RTD Unscripted documentary he said that on a show he wrote "breakfast serials" he would write a synopsis for the Radio Times and that it had nothing to do with the story. It was all a great game he was playing with himself.

Maybe this time he is playing the game with us.

Obviously there is something major (a nice shock) fot the TBA episode, but I am starting to think the bad wolf thing could be a bluff.
