Not sure if anyone's noticed, but in AOL the spaceship crashes not far from the London Eye. That's only a few hundred yards from where the Nestene was hiding in 'Rose'. Given the size of this planet, what are the chances of two alien events (a year apart) happening so close to each other?
Or was it just convenient to film both there at the same time? ![]() Bad Wolf... Could the clues just be leading to name of the TBA episode... The BAd Wolf |

Thanks for all the info on the previous mentions, it's certainly shaping up to be very interesting. I'm sure like any conspiracy people will see things that arent there, but there is certainly some basis for thought. Lets wait and see what happens.

Probably nothing but in ep 3 didn't the maid talk of the darkness (just before the wolf reference) and in ep 5 the doctor say that Mickey was born in darkness?

have managed to watch all episodes so far on both sat and sun and must say I always enjoy the 2nd viewing even more - I'm afraid at 40 I sometimes find the dialogue just rushes by too quickly so sundays viewing fills in the gaps - regarding quality of various episodes, the main thing for me is that I'm happy at my age to totally suspend belief and years of learnt cynicism and enjoy all the 'silliness' that a programme of this type inevitably contains - without a doubt doctor who has been 'saved' in this latest outing and I for one still can't believe it has happened - thank goodness for RTD - once (twice actually!!) a week I am 8 years old again and off 'time travelling' - to top this off my 18 year old daughter went out a little later on sat night because her mates wanted to watch 'the doctor' first - happy days - 'who' would have thought it?

Thanks It was mentioned in the first ep mouthed by the Nestene when the Docttor was talking about the Time War. In ep 2 The Moxx of Balhoon said on Platform One that this was 'a bad wolf scenario' In ep 3 Gwyneth the maid recoiled from Rose when she was looking into her mind and said that she had seen 'the big bad wolf' My quotes from the eps might not be 100% accurate as it is late but the bad wolf has been mentioned a number of times now. In 4 there was the kid who spray painted it onto the TARDIS. Some think RTD might be taking us on a wild goose chase and the references mean nothing..it is all a red herring..but there are a number of us, including myself. where we think there is a storyarc throughout the whole series. |

Catching up with the thread so thought I’d pop in my own tuppence-worth on a couple of topics.
I’ve thought of the new TimeTunnel effect just as red for travelling into the future, blue into the past. Probably something to do with redshift, but I’m no astrophysicist. Mickey – nothing wrong with the character, just Noel Clarke’s acting. I like him better now because his acting was better in these two episodes. Much more like the actor we knew before we saw him in “Rose” As for my overall opinion of the show, it’s eerily reminiscent of how I feel about the Star Wars prequel trilogy… virtually wetting myself when I first saw it, now realising the flaws. Doesn’t mean I don’t still enjoy them (and my obsession and excitement over Ep III is already losing me friends but that’s for another thread)

I'm a very new Whovian (is that the right term?) because I was a Blakes 7 fan at primary school
I know very little about the history of the show, though I did interview Colin Baker once for a local paper and he was cheerful and friendly - but I remembered him from Blakes 7, not Doctor Who . Just a theory but is the "Big, bad wolf" a reference to Rose in that she's Little Red Riding Hood (she is young and blonde, has been adopted by the Doctor but why? For her own safety...and was wearing red in the latest episode). Are aliens after her not him? Oh no! I've turned into a Dr Who geek! Arrghhh!

Loved this second part. I found it entertaining all the way through and Loved the 'iraq war' references. This show just gets better.

Next weeks episode looks like a good one. I liked the Doctor's "WHY DON'T YOU JUST DIE!" to the Dalek (presumably). Incidentally, has it been confirmed who's responsible for the destruction of Gallifrey? We can make educated guesses, but do we know for sure? I ask because I don't read the spoilers on here, but accidentally came across a big one relating to the destruction of Gallifrey in a TV guide yesterday. |

Enjoying the thread as always!
This might sound rather bizarre, but did anyone else watch HIGNFY on Friday - they showed a clip from William Hartnell days which had an assistant called Stephen Tyler played by Peter Purves. Any relation to Rose? Is Peter Purves still about? Coincidence? Probably, but wondered what other fans thought.

New Who seems to want to make it's own history and the Time War/Bad Wolf stuff is all part of the unfolding story that will be teased out over the weeks without reference to books, audios and old continuity - accessible to people who never saw the original run. |

My two-pence worth on what's gone so far (and I've been 100% wrong up to now so no need to ruin a perfect record!)...
Is there now going to be a recurring theme of 'love of money being the root of all evil'? Both Cassandra and the Slitheen family had it as their motivation for their actions. It's looking sadly as though Bad Wolf (Big or otherwise) may be a Big Red Herring - perhaps just thrown in as a literary link throughout the programmes for the Whovians to chew over. If RTD was going to follow it through then he would have had the missile hit the House of Commons (or Lords if he's pro-Tony!) - i.e. blowing "the house" down. I also thought the two most recent episodes were the weakest so far. However, if we get anywhere near the standard of Ep3 (the Reapers look promising on the 'sofa' scale) in any of the remaining shows, I'll be more than happy. K |

Well, its had quite a pounding from some quarters but I thought it was...good. Not a classic by any means but better than last week.
Being a big kid myself I quite liked the childishness that some have criticised it for. I think it's good to mix up the feel and tempo of the episodes, and next week looks like it's going to be a dark one. Nice contrast. I actually liked the Slitheen's rubber suits! The way the head wobbled as they ran along was classic Who, I thought. If I had to criticise anything it would be the CGI, which made them more fearsome than I thought they should be. They were crap comedy aliens, so that's what they should have looked like. I liked the comedy moments, too. The "You're making it up!" when the Doctor was bluffing with the alcohol, the look on the Slitheen's face when he had the vinegar mixture thrown over him, the "SIR! THERE'S A MISSILE........sorry", the 'give it here, that's mine. I'M the blonde one' type squabbling when the missile was on it's way, and finally the classic, "Oh, boll" was a laugh out loud moment. Well, for me anyway. I'm not sure about this 'Bad wolf' business now that it's been wiped off the Tardis, either. Oh well, more speculation can only be a good thing. Overall, then, 7/10 and a 'good' vote from me, but I'm really looking forward to next weeks episode Last edited by afcbfan : 25-04-2005 at 12:01. |
