Excellent episode, probably one of the best moments for me was when one of the soldiers walked in on the alien meeting before the end.

Personally, I thought tonights' Dr Who was great, with some great action, great production and great lines (tell me if I'm overdoing the word 'great').

What other programme currently running on any channel has equal action, comedy, wit, plot lines, superb (for the most part) SFX, a great cast (Eccleston and Piper were made for each other), and to top it off...what a trailer for next week !

Best line of tonights ep...besides the 45 second WMD reference......Just as the missile is coming down on No.10....the Slithereen say..."Oh Bol....."

That was to prevent the aliens getting the nuke codes and destroying the planet. They had the hotline and the red button in there

Totally agree This series of Doctor Who is fab, probably the best yet - and I'm someone who thought Tom Baker could never be bettered...

AND even if it is naff - it's 'Self-Aware Naff ' in that one of the points of Dr Who is the 'tongue-in-cheekness' of it (does that make sense?).

Can't wait till next week......

Currently at the bottom of the whoisdoctorwho site

When he said goodbye, The Doctor gave me a disc. He said it contained a virus that would wipe him from the internet.

Thing is: I can't bring myself to use it.

You see, he's off, making another decision for us, all "I'm the big bad wolf and it's way past your bedtime." Well, I don't think so. Not this time.

It's enough for us all that I've got the virus. On CD. And I'm ready to use it. If he really is that dangerous.

Another top show.

The difference between aliens as lumbering blokes in suits and aliens as sleek & swift cgi creations was a bit off - but the quality of the script and the acting more than makes up for any dodgy sfx.

What a dreadful episode.

Utter, utter tripe.

The actors (especially the police) looked like they were just having a laugh.

The story was beyond ridiculous.

Yet another disappointing RTD episode that seems unable to make up its mind what it's supposed to be - kitch kiddie show or serious drama.

Someone tell me that the rest of the series is written by someone else.

I really enjoyed the first 3 episodes of this Doctor Who, last weeks was OK but I thought this was awful (I was even tempted to turn over to Celebrity wrestling a couple of times as I thoght it couldn't be much worse).

It was probably not helped that the aliens were far worse than some of the old series monster costumes but some of the dialogue was just plain embarrassing. Cheesy to the extreme and worse than I've seen in many cbbc shows. Plus did they have to show the Aliens unzipping their foreheads every 2 minutes,we got the point after the first time, save your effects budget for better costumes.

The whole thing seems too jokey and I'm starting to get irritated by the Doctors permanent grin. Humour is fine on occassion but it's not a comedy series, even comedy dramas have less jokes than the last couple of episodes.

I'm starting think it may be a good thing that Christopher Ecclestone is leaving as he's starting to appear very one dimensional, which is a shame as I thought he showed a fair bit of depth in the first 2 episodes. He just seemed like he was coasting in this 2 parter.

Hopefully David Tennant will play the part slightly more seriously (although that will depend largely on the scripts).

Still, I have high hopes for the Dalek episode and after disliking him intently at the start of the series I think the character of Mickey has vastly improved.

...just take those slytheen costumes and burn them so they can never return.

I've got to agree with Bystander.
This episode of Doctor Who was crap.
It was for me anyway.

I agree that after episode 1 it got better each episode up until and including the Unquiet Dead episode.
But I'm not going to kid myself that it's getting better and better. Last week it got worse, and this week it was even more shit.
It's classic children's television that nowadays would be shown at 4.30 pm if "My Parents are Aliens", or "The Worst Witch" wasn't on.

Keith Boak is ruining Doctor Who.

It's all very well saying Doctor Who is a kids show, but I don't care, this was rubbish.
And like Bystander I saw the first half hour of that Celebrity Wresting lark.
Yes, Celeb Wrestling was pure trash, but I can see how viewers would tune it to it.

I think the ratings for this weeks Doctor Who are going to be the poorest yet.

It was crap to me.

It needs to seriously pick itself up again for it to get anything near the same sort of ratings it got in week 1.

Those very good first three epiosdes have been completely undermined by the last two, and the show is in danger of losing even more viewers.
Not a good position to be in.

I can't get over how lame this week's episode was.
Very poor.

By this time last week there were a 100+ posts on the Dr Who thread compared to less than half that number this week.
Thats how good the show was.

Didn't think tonight's episode was as good as the previous ones. The best bit was the teaser for next week and the Dalek. Watching Confidential on BBC Three we saw a bit more with the Dalek trapping Rose and, via an earpiece, the Doctor hearing "Exterminate" followed by a weapon firing. The look on the Doctor's face gave me goosebumps.

Clue or Slip of the Tongue

On Doctor Who Confidential, CE said "The doctor feels he is the last Time Lord"

Could this mean the "someone who was dead" is Ep 11 is another Time Lord?

Even though I've had a go at you in the past, more often than not tongue in cheek, I have to admit Alrightmate, you do write a very good TV review.

Really enjoyed this weeks epsiode. The Bad Wolf being wiped off the TARDIS has thrown a bit of a spanner in the works though.

Or has it. Maybe Mickey took a photo of the TARDIS at some point.

Or then again RTD might just be playing with us...

Keith Boak has just pitched it all wrong.

Nowadays even children tend to like more mature shows than this.

Sure, it might appeal to 8 year olds, but the truth is that it has to reach older audiences too. It's on at 7 pm for God's sake.
If they showed "My Parents are Aliens" at 7pm on a Saturday night, does anyone think it would get the ratings?

It's like Keith Boaks has got it in his mind that he reckons he knows what the little kids will like, and aimed it directly at the younger kids.
Problem with that is that they approaced "Top of the Pops" in that same manner, and couldn't understand why that show just kept losing viewers. Each incarnation of TOTP, they aimed it at ever younger viewers, and it each time they just kept losing viewers.

It's no use sacrificing the older viewers just to get the little kids watching. That's like cutting off your nose to spite your face.
For a Saturday Night at 7pm, you've got to make pretty much make damn sure you get the adults watching or you're f**ked.

It's also patronising to kids. It's like assuming that kids only like one specific kind of humour and nothing else. Kids can like all sorts of humour, even humour that's directed to adults. So it's not necessary to put the lame "Chuckle Brothers" style humour in, and use the "CITV" style direction. Children can handle a lot more mature treatment than what we're getting.

Even Buffy the Vampire Slayer was more adult than this...and that's saying something.

It was just so weak I can't believe it.
I can't even remember the classic Doctor Who show in the '70s being this kiddish.

And it's a frightening prospect to imagine that Doc Who might even lose the ratings battle to something like "Celebrity Wrestling"
