Well, as I mentioned, unless something changes in the Galiffrey Chronicles this would suggest that he is not maintaining continuity with the books.

Not necessarily a bad thing mind you!

Has anyone read the production notes in this months DWM?

Spoiler
RTD is now on record as saying that he is not using the novels or audio adventures as a reference to the storyarc of the Time War so looks like all bets are off and there is still all to play for... He wants to give the viewer a brand new story that everyone can identify/hook into without having read or listened to other material.

He did say beware the Bad Wolf and there is more at stake than the Daleks and The Time Lords...ooer!

Looks like the speculation mill can now gone back into overdrive....

It was also mentioned by CE on Blue Peter tonight. As a hugh Dr Who fan I have not yet commented here until now but would like to say when I see the trailer for Dalek the hairs on my neck stand up... wow

Are we actually the same person?

I re-watched McGann's film as well this afternoon, and was going to make the same observation!

I think there has to be more to Rose, or why else would her touching the Dalek re-activate it when so many others obviously would during it's transit?

What's so special about her DNA?

Ha, that's fantastic - I love the way the little girl just draws pictures the whole way through

I thought that was quite telling. Isnt it a distraction technique to avoid the stress of being scared?

That's pretty much all we know so far, from confirmed leaks or what we've been able to piece together from the episodes.

Maybe, or she could have been bored by some bits. I concluded it was probably a bit of both

Actually its not really a theory, its just what I want to happen!”

Welcome, Elstoon.

I did say - but I'm not one to say "Told you so" - and I don't have a little dance to accompany it.

About time we got the mill oiled up again!

I never thought for one minute RTD was referring to the books or audio adventures as had an idea his vision was to reboot/reinvent it for a new generation whilst still retaining the key ingredients.

My thoughts and theories I have been putting forward these past few weeks remains unchanged, though as more of the puzzle is pieced together, that could be revised or added to.

All part of the fun I guess...

Ditto!

(But personally I think he will borrow from all sources as he sees fit, as long as it fits his story).

And long may the fun last!

Look at the third display cabinet up from the left, and there you will see.......

Spoiler
...The Head of a Cyberman

That's a very interesting and original idea.
I'm not sure if it will turn out to be correct, but it's a very good idea all the same.

Much more plausible than the fading photograph in "Back to the Future".
The Doctor's memory being fuzzy at first, and then when the future becomes more certain, specific parts of his memory become clearer and more lucid....Very good.
Very good idea, and more plausible than other ideas that get used in science fiction.

Another minor "Bad Wolf" reference....

In the last episode Rose's Mum tells Rose that she's got to meet her Grandma tommorrow....

.....Next episode Rose meets a Dalek.

"Grandma, what a big sink plunger you have".
zounds

That's right Den, that's what he said.
He said a while back that he won't care about Doctor Who lore, and will only go and bring something back if it's useful to the story, or he's forced to due to the story.

He said that the story comes first, and history is secondary. Only used if needed.

Quite right too. That's exactly how I would have done it if I'd have been tasked with bringing it back.

(Not that I know anything about making television, but it seems logical to me.)

And don't forget - he's counting all of the eight televised Doctors, including Paul McGann. His decision.

Yes I agree.

If he tried to drag in too much of old Doc Who history, things would be bound to get convoluted and confusing really quickly, and give him all sorts of headaches trying to make things fit.

If he is very selective in what he chooses to reintroduce, he has much more freedom.
Say for example he decides to bring the Cybermen back for series 2 (here's hoping),..then I'd imagine he would just focus on history concerning the Cybermen and not much else, and try to avoid looking too much beyond the Cybermen in case he gets bogged down with conundrums and problems of his own making.

You never know as Phil Collinson was quoted as saying that we might see a few more old faces in the next series as well as some new enemies. Cybermen might be the logical choice after the Daleks...

SEEN AS THEY RECYCLED THE AUDIO DRAMA JUBILEe FOR dALEK, THEY COULD DO WORSE THAN using the same aproach with spare parts to re-introduce the cybermen.

As long as we don't get the Slitheen back again...not sure I could cope with the endless farting gags.

Well spotted, Since it is an alien collection, maybe we should start a list of old foes seen in tonight's episode?
