I've just watched it off tape, and saw it as yet another very good episode. I can't believe all the stick it's been getting here!

The 45 second thing was very clever, and quite funny

Strange that there were no obvious clues to the wider story, other than the kid cleaning the tag off the TARDIS. I might just have to have a closer look later on!

Is it just me, or did anyone elese find the ending sad?

Nah, it just messes with your head when you think that Rose could actually return before her mum counts out the seconds if she wants to and the Doctor sorts it out .

The mising for a year story? It need never happen. Ok, I'm thinking too much!

yes... very sad.... if you're clutching at straws for bad wolf references, i've got one straight from the bottom of my barrel...

the Doctor is the Big Bad Wolf... who in the story, huffs and puffs and blows houses down...

well arguably, Doctor "wolf" huffed and puffed and blew 10 Downing Street down with an ICBM!

sorry.. that was terrible!

This is a show that is on way before the watershed, and it has to appeal to all age ranges. Therefore, we will have some weeks where the episodes are darker than others, and some which are more light-hearted. As much as I disliked last week's episode, I thought this week's redeemed it somewhat.

RTD is an excellent writer, and a lifelong fan of the show. I have faith in him.

'My Parents are Aliens' is comedy, whereas this story showed real human emotion, and I'm sorry if that doesn't please everyone, but I think it makes the programme more realistic. Of course Jackie is going to be upset if her daughter goes missing for a year.

I wish I could remember where I saw it, but there's a forum out there somewhere (may not have been DS) where people are speculating that Rose is the bad wolf. If I find it again I'll post a link.

After tonight, I am convinced that the Doctor did pick Rose specifically, she's not just as a random assistant who happened across his path.

When her mum asked if he could promise she (Rose) would always be safe, he couldn't do it, just looked at her. He's got something planned for her - which of the theories I'm not sure - and it'll put her at risk.

Maybe it's got something to do with CE's exit? What I mean is, the Doctor may find himself in a situation where he has to sacrifice one of his lives to save Rose.

Woudn't it be funny if that was all that the Big Bad Wolf references led to?

Or on a slightly less sinister note, he could already have thought how he was going to get out of downing street alive, so couldn't guarantee her safety.
BTW how long ago were they filmed, presumably it done the british way as in they were all filmed long before any got aired

Definately, when he is willing to risk all of the Earth for Rose.

Just his words, "I risk losing you" was very much like a Father to his daughter.

We also know
Spoiler

Jackie seems like a bit of a slapper, who is to say that the Doctor didn't have a one night stand with Jackie in maybe a Paul McGann guise???

Considering "The Caves of Androzani" was in RTD's "bible" of stories for the production team to watch, along with "Spearhead from Space" (ie the Autons episode), I think this is highly likely...

("Caves" was the one where the Fifth Doctor sacrifices himself to save Peri)

Agreed - I for one was sick of Big Brother by the end of the 3rd series - and I have impeccable taste!

But no, tv has to jump on an (already shakey) bandwagon, so all we have is Celebrity this/ **** from Hell that - Praise be that the BBC has given us back some pure entertainment - it was LONG overdue, and let's hope it's the start of things to come. As long as the BBC keeps moving back to entertainment based shows, they will always get my licence fee!

Dunno, but didn't something get mentioned in the tabloids? Saying that, if you merely work on the same show as a member of the opposite sex, then stories are all over the papers within days.

EDITORIAL: SORRY DOC!

When he said goodbye, The Doctor gave me a disc. He said it contained a virus that would wipe him from the internet.

Thing is: I can't bring myself to use it.

You see, he's off, making another decision for us, all "I'm the big bad wolf and it's way past your bedtime." Well, I don't think so. Not this time.

It's enough for us all that I've got the virus. On CD. And I'm ready to use it. If he really is that dangerous.

Mickey

anyone seen that on the whoisdoctorwho.co.uk?

Think it got a mention earlier in the thread. I think they are playing with net fans who are obviously debating the Bad Wolf stuff.

What are you basing that on? As I see it, they were just an inept, small, crooked, family business and all of them were killed. I doubt anybody else from their planet will be seeking revenge for their deaths. In fact they are probably glad to see the back of them.

I don't think they would make a good recurring enemy. They were entertaining as a one off, mostly because they were so overconfident that they could knock over Earth without even taking it seriously. Their whole plan was intentionally stupid. They could have nuked Earth themselves if they had any sense at all. The point was that they enjoyed trying to make fools of the humans by impersonating politicians, faking the "joke" pig-alien and trying to trick them into destroying themselves.

A good recurring enemy has to be something which is of an intelectual level that The Doctor is not able to fully deal with them in one go, like the Daleks.

Ive enjoyed the Doctor Who series up until now, but to be honest I thought tonights showing was piss poor.

The only highlight was Penelope Wilton's MP.

As for Rose's mother, I just want to slap her because of her stupid voice and constant interuptions....
