Samsung galaxy note 4 still a good buy?
ihatemarmite

Price has come down but it's still expensive. Is it still a good buy which will last 2+ years? OH is interested as takes a lot of notes and drawings and hates keyboard input on mobile devices.
Price seems to have gone up for Xmas though, unsurprisingly (amazon authorised seller)

Why wouldn't it last 2+ years? Unless you lose, damage, get bored with or upgrade a device, it should run for many years. The Note 4 is due for a Marshmallow upgrade, but anything beyond that is doubted.

I had the very first Note back in the day. A friend has the Note 4 and swears by it; it's a very nice device and from what I've seen from his, it's still as fast and whizzy as ever. The big plusses are the removable battery and expandable memory, since removed from the Note 5. Just get the best price you can for it.

no sign of the Note 5 so don't suppose the prices now or after Xmas will be much different?
I want to buy from a reliable seller, someone like amazon themselves. That's where I got my S5 (so far so good).
Won't get marshmallow on Tesco for the foreseeable. They were among the last to make Lollipop available. Not sure about BT who OH is with (?).

The Note 5 is due for release in the UK in January 2016 allegedly.

Saw the galaxy Note 5 in a samsung store while I was visiting Vietnam 2 weeks ago, nice bit of kit, can't understand why it's not out over here yet and we got. Dumped with the S6 edge, was tempted to buy one but reception on my last Samsung, the Note 4 was a bit deaf.. 😕

if the 5 is coming, might wait to get the 4 as I'm sure the price will drop further. thanks

do you mean call reception was bad, or 4G? I'm in a black spot of London anyhow, only O2 and EE usable for calls and 4G.

General reception was a lot weaker on the 2 note 4 phones I had compared to the older S4 I had before them, I was on three & Vodafone with them both, if your in a good reception area you won't notice anything but if you've marginal coverage then it will,

Don't know if you saw this deal for £366.99 for the Note 4?

I've got one for work and although it's a great phone I would only have it for work as trouser pockets are bigger than jeans which it would be a bit of a squeze in.

I prefer it to my S5, but for personal use the Note is just a little bit too big.

Yep I had a note 4 for a couple of weeks, didn't like Android so went back to my iPhone, and I also noticed reception was not so good on the note. For example on my iPhone I can get 3 bars most of the time, on the note it was 1 bar maybe 2 if I was lucky.

thanks, that's important round here as we have middling reception. Combine that with the wrong network and could be really annoying. Pity though.
Might look at another S5 or even S6 if the budget stretches to that. Good screen and camera as well as battery life/reception important factors.

If getting a signal is important to you don't buy a Galaxy S6!

the S5 is fine though (I have one). Is it the metal? But isn't the Note 4 plastic?
Definitely need to buy whatever it is from amazon with their returns policy. I'm going to need to try it out around here first.

My Note 2 lasted 20 months before it completely packed up. Wouldn't turn on or charge. Still my favourite phone of all time though, it was great.

Got a HTC One M8 as it's replacement .... my opinion? H8 it.

It's buggy. The camera is rubbish. Non-removable battery. The HTC software is crap. Had to send the first phone back twice for repairs within the first 3 months. It just does absolutely random stuff whenever it feels like it.

I'm really tempted to get the Note 4.
