I do like her explanations on choreography corner but generally her other inputs in ITT have been pretty dire. She is not a natural presenter (and she does have a peculiar fashion style!)

Think she'd probably better off having a partner if she stays next year.

I have no idea why some posters dislike the Clifton family so much.
I really like Joanne and Karen, Kevin I blow hot and cold on: he comes across really well on ITT and he is a lovely dancer but does seem to get ringers.
It just seems that some people need to hate on someone.

Oh and he's not Len's godson - some people are so gullible (and probably read the Sun)

I have warmed to Kevin this series and I think he has done an excellent job with Kellie and I enjoy watching them dance. The problem has come because three Cliftons is just too many and it has become overdose. Add Kevin's tendency to overdance into the mix and that may explain why some posters dislike him.

I think he will come good and just needs to tone it down a bit. Certainly think we could lose one Clifton, though, and also Janette who does not impress me.

Why does it matter if they are related? They are all there on their own merits - it's only an issue when people choose to make it one. Why can't they be treated as the individuals that they are?

My instant non-warming of Kevin was probably due to the fact he was Susannah Reid, who I cannot abide.

I don't mind him as much this season though I wouldn't call myself a fan.

Didn't like Joanne last year, she was with Scott Mills, who I cannot abide.

But on CC, I really like her.

So the moral of this story is that I need to try not to judge people on who they are matched with, but it's difficult.

What I find a bit depressing is the absence of British professional dancers in the pro line-up. Why aren't more getting through from competitive dancing? Kevin and Jo are the only two

On the other hand maybe they are pants and that's why the producers won't touch them with a barge pole

Yep - not a lot of people know that.

He's vastly underrated is our Kevin.

I realise that not everyone can be popular with the public but cannot understand the Clifton hate. Fine if you don't like them but is beyond me why some can get so nasty about people they do not know.

I also fail to understand why someone can't have a wife or sibling on the show (especially if they have the talent to be there )- both Kevin and Joanne are well qualified to be there on their own merits - highly trained in both latin and ballroom champions in both styles with obvious teaching skills.

There are many many talented british pros out there - do not know why there are not more homegrown dancers on the show

So it comes down to them sharing the same last name? IMO they all are so different in every way, and bring their own strengths to the show, it'd be shame to toss one out just cause of the last name. Kevin seems to be an excellent teacher, gets on with his celebs really well, and brings that 'not a hunk', but a really charming person. Karen is brilliant with duffers and has made their experience fun and enjoyable. And Joanne is really knowledgeable and seems like a fun great teacher. So to cut them down just because of last name just seems silly and unfair.

I agree entirely with this post. To me it does not matter at all, if they or others are related. Why does this seem to matter ? All are trained, skilled, professional dancers in their own right. Certainly Kevin and Jo bring a much needed ballroom and Latin pedigree to the show that few of the others have. They have lived, breathed, danced ballroom and latin since they were tiny children, they are probably the most experienced dancers / competitors on the show.
They are brilliant teachers, choreographers and dancers....lovely people too.

They are each individuals with perfectly good credentials to appear on the show.

Joanne is a beautiful dancer and great on CC

Karen has proved herself to be a solid pro.

Kevin is an excellent pro, well liked by his celebs who he has obviously taught well.

None are 'favourites' of mine, although I like them all well enough, especially Kevin, who, whether you like him or not, is great value and works very hard.

I accept that people like different things, but I don't understand the vitriol either really.

People unfairly lump them all together, I think, or find one or other of them irritating, so what? Makes for a bit of salt in the stew.

Brendan used to creep me out a bit, but he's a great pro, and I always found James' Latin and his partnerships, great fun to watch, even though he was always a bit of a twonk.

I'm rambling...I'll post anyway...

And Karen is only a Clifton by virtue of what many now consider to be an outmoded convention of a woman 'surrendering' her own name in deference to a bloke.

She's Karen Hauer - a World Champion, a brilliant Latin dancer and a wizard with the duffers. Give her an able partner next year, Strictly - and this forum would do well to start judging her as an individual. So there.

Dont mind Karen at all
I can take or leave Jo although I like her better when she is explaining things maybe its because she dumbs it down for easier understanding dont like her much on other ITT things
Kevin I cant stand, he is just to in your face and over hyper for me and unlike others I dont think he is the best male pro
I think it was all the Kevin from Grimsby guff that started to put me off him

Not rambling at all, and excellent post.

I was not a huge fan of Joanne, but she has won me over with her brilliant choreography critique, I saw a completely different side to her. Would love to have her teach me to dance.

Karen, likewise was not always top of my faves list, but I admire how she just gets on with things, is always very invested in her celeb, even if they are a complete no hoper, she works hard to ensure they have a good experience on the show.

Kevin has also grown on me - he works hard with his celebs and they all seem genuinely fond of him, so he must be doing something right.

As for them all having the same surname - I dont see why it matters. We have had two Cutlers, Two Bennetts ( or Kopylovas ! ) and two Jordans and various other Pros who are / were romantically linked.

Haha, given Claudia's contribution to presenting & fashion styles I don't think Jo has too much to worry about!!

Claudia is a natural though and she is so quick with the repostes! Joanne comes across as just trying a bit too hard and I find it rather cringeworthy and can't wait for her to finish her piece to camera.

As for fashion tastes - those red boots that Joanne wore on a previous CC input were out of this world (literally!)

She was only Karen Hauer because she was married to a Mr Hauer before she married this Mr Clifton.

If she is happy to use her husband's name, that's her choice, surely.
