I have a Sony Bravia 46W905A. It's always connected fine to my wifi (BT HH4).
Yesterday Apple support had me create 2 different SSIDs (on 5 and 2.4Ghz frequencies) in order to stop my macbook pro wifi dropping connection all the time.
Sony TV lost wifi connection, so I went into settings>network etc....but it only finds the 2.4Ghz. I tried setting the faster 5Ghz one manually (TV is only about 5m from the router) but it won't recognise it at all, despite displaying its correct SSID and network key.

I've now given up and let it connect on the slower 2.4 one. No idea what to do to get the faster one.

It has also lost all the smart app icons. I can no longer find Amazon Prime, Youtube etc etc.
I did a factory reset of the TV as well. No difference. Wish I'd bought a Samsung!

According to this

the TV can only use 5GHz with the aid of a USB dongle.

As far as I'm aware the TV doesn't do 5GHz (why would it?, 2.4GHz has much better range), no idea if a Samsung one would or not - but most sets don't.

So why aren't you simply connecting to the 2.4GHz one?, like it was before when it worked perfectly.

thanks. I'm in a flat. Lots of neighbour networks in proximity. Is 5GHz better at filtering interference than 2.4? If 2.4 (which is 25Mbps slower but still ok, late 30s) works fine, I'd not bother with the dongle. Just sometimes at peak times downloads are very slow.

TV reset to factory settings has restored the app icons. Not sure why it lost them?!
Mubi seems to be there. Is that new on Sony? A few months ago tried to join MUBI only for the SEN to have other ideas about getting registered and getting it to work from the TV, not streamed from a laptop or tablet.
