It was coma inducing and utterly Doctor who used to be fun and light but I don't think there been a fun episode in a few years.

Try 'Hell Bent'....it's positively frothy. (You're welcome.)

But I'd avoid the Christmas Special, going by your taste in Who. It makes 'City of Death' look like 'The Caves of Androzani'....Honestly.

ETA No, hang on. Swap those 2 stories around! Hate it when I try to be 'clever' and fail. Happens a lot.

The problem with this forum is that there's no emoticon for patting you on the head and saying, "Of course, son."

Please explain how Heaven Sent is 100 times worse than Fear Her? Seriously, I do no think it is possible but would love to see you try!

By the way posting statements as you are doing is not criticism - to criticise something you have to explain the failings, perceived or otherwise, in the plot, characterisation, performance, writing, direction etc that you have with the episode.

So there's you challenge, compare Heaven Sent to Fear Her properly comparing the plotting, performances, direction etc to support your opinion that Heaven Sent is 100 times worse than Fear Her. Or you could not bother posting that the final episode and the Christmas episode are both the worst episode you have ever seen as we're all kinda expecting it!

I'd take Fear Her over Last of the Timelords or Death in Heaven actually.

I remember really enjoying Fear Her when it aired. Id take it a million times compared to the vast majority of post 2010 episodes.

You haven't offered any.

Being negative for its own sake is tiresome, tedious and repetetive. If you want to be taken seriously, and not viewed as merely an annoyance, perhaps come up with an actual critique instead of saying: "wah, wah, so bad... awful... wah wah... where's RTD?... ZOMG its sooooooooooooo bad... wah wah!!!!"

But I fear you aren't really after anything other than immediate attention, using the lowest common denominator techniques.

I would say that Fear Her was (arguably) the second weakest episode of a very strong season and saved, to a large degree, by starring an insanely popular Doctor and companion.

Granted it was much more 'Sarah Jane Adventures' than Doctor Who but it got the same AI that year as Tooth and Claw which I thought was a great episode.

And so with an AI of 83, Fear Her and Tooth and Claw were jointly the second least enjoyed episodes of season 2, beaten only by Love and Monsters (76). There is a very broad range of AIs for season 2 from a high of 89 (for the finale, Doomsday) to Love and Monsters (76). Most fall in the 84-86 bracket.

The AIs are calculated differently now which may account for the different scores for Season 9 where the range is much flatter - from a high of 84 (a number of them got that) down to Sleep No More (78).

But with an AI of 80, Heaven Sent was the second least enjoyed episode of season 9. So purely in terms of AI, you could argue that Heaven Sent is the Fear Her of Season 9

Aside from Tooth and Claw I think your post is in line with my own thoughts about Series 2. I think aside from the four episodes that ran from The Impossible Planet to Fear Her, it was an awesome Series but even for someone who's not very enamored of the Moffat Era, even I would agree Heaven Sent is better than Fear Her!

Utterly buttery is going to be my new way saying I loved an episode.

"That episode was so utterly buttery!"

What about Love and Monsters. I shudder at that one.

That was a quite disappointing episode but at least it didn't send me asleep and I got some enjoyment. Recent episodes tend to give me none.

Thank you for this Mulett. You have convinced me not to base any judgements on AI score very succinctly!

I also found Tooth and Claw to be an enjoyable episode.

It had some redeeming features such as L.I.N.D.A. being a group of people whose lives had been touched/affected by the Doctor such as Elton as the focus of the episode and the casting ensured that the members of the group were engaging and their absorbtion was felt by the viewer. Of course there was plenty to make you shudder I agree.

For me Fear Her was completely lacking in any redeeming features whatsoever!

Apart from the hyperinflation you have once again offered nothing by way of criticism or argument in support of your statement. 1/10 was too generous!

It was worth reading this thread just for that comment

One wonders why the OP posts on this forum let alone watches Doctor Who at this point. Personally I think Heaven Sent deserves a rewatch

Really!?! Each to their own but I'd genuinely like to know why (although I suspect I could guess) you think those episodes are even worse than Fear Her.

If I had to choose* one of those three to rewatch myself it would be Death in Heaven.

* by choose I mean be held at gunpoint and made to select one

Surprisingly the last episode was actually fairly decent( compared to the rest of Series. Still shite compared to Rose departure or even Amy).

Crap her was just shit. Yeah a 7 yr old child trapping people in sodding drawings then mummy gets all sulky telling rose to leave. Hardly realistic!
