iPhone 5s wifi problem
rockerchick

Just got a new iPhone 5s and when i try and connect to my home wifi it says the password is incorrect and I can assure you it isn't. I even disconnected my laptop from the wifi and logged into it again and it accepted it on there so I think it's the phone. The 5s did it when I was setting up the phone for first time so it isn't due to me accidentally changing any settings on the phone. Help please. I've had to continue without I cloud restore (which it requires a wifi connection) so irritating if anyone has any suggestions I'd be very thankful

Ok....

1. Reboot the router and do a soft reset of the iPhone (hold power and the menu button until you see the Apple logo).

2. Try changing the WiFi password on the router (pain in the bum yes, but it's worked for me before (make is something simple to start with e.g 12345687).

3. if those don't work, try going to Settings / General / Reset and selecting Reset Network Settings on the iPhone (this will wipe out any WiFi networks stored but should sort it).

4. If that doesn't work, make sure it will connect to a different WiFi network somewhere else to see if it's the phone or the router.

Are you using a Virgin Media hub? I've seen a few complaints about them doing that, usually resolved by pulling the power to the router for a few minutes.

Yeah, that's right, just go and trample over my post with "have you tried turning it off and turning it on again"

Sorry, missed your first few words there, Andrew, I thought you were talking about rebooting the phone.

At least I corroborated your first point

And in my defence, I suggest pulling the power for a few minutes, so not quite the same as just rebooting

It's a BT hub 5. I really think it's the phone though as other devices such as my laptop connect to it just fine. Might go grab a tea or something in the city to see if it will connect to the cafe's wifi.

I have all my bills stored on my bill app so I had a rather frustrating evening last night going through my online banking putting all the new info into my phone again.

Had enough of it so took it into the apple store, and they just gave me a new one! It's connected to my WiFi no problem.

Good outcome, you can't beat Apple's customer service.

Several connectivity problems can easily be resolved by simply resetting the network settings, which will clear the memory caches and DHCP settings to get the default or factory recommended settings. Here is how to reset network settings: Open Settings app > go to Settings > General > Reset and tap on Reset Network Settings.
