Don't like the dance-off, as it actually favours the trained dancers over beginners. The public vote often gives credit to how far beginners have travelled.

Alright comedy contestants stay a bit too long, but they've always been voted off once they start knocking out too many good dancers. I don't count Julian Clary in this as he was so nervous and improved a lot. (Chris Parker in Series 1 apart - but that was in a different world.)

But the BBC has had its funding cut a lot. The Sunday results show is comparatively cheap to produce and gets very high viewing figures - which it wouldn't without the dance-off.

So I'd say no dance-off in the semi-final as it gives the judges too much influence against the public vote when there's only 5 contestants. Just go by the public vote - as in the final.

The other change I'd make is to give the Pros more influence over the music. Some of the music choices have been AWFUL.

The public vote also seems to give credit to the comedy factor, the "so awful they're good" factor, and the personality factor. So it's not as straigtforward as you might think.

Too many? I would say that one "good dancer" being knocked out in favour of a comedy contestant is one too many!

High viewing numbers does not necessarily mean that everyone is deliriously happy with the show. Lots of DSers (legitimately) criticise the VTs, Tess/Zoe's sacharin uber-jolly style, wardrobe, the music, the Sunday 'live' show cojones, etc etc

I doubt (m)any will turn off despite the things that irritate us so high viewing figures does not automatically mean everything is perfect.

You get lots of rubber neckers at motorway accidents but it doesn't mean everyone likes them does it?”

BIB
in the big picture ,unhappy DS posters numbers are tiny- how many? maybe 100 if you're being generous.... against 12 million

if you're using the 12m overall I suspect it is probably a bit more than 100 if not restricted to the people that hang out round here
