Store staff don't get vouchers for their own power bars, and assuming they're on a staff tariff with discount, they wouldn't be able to use a voucher anyway.
I'd Tweet EE about the first person suggesting you keep the power bar as that's not right and he could get himself, and certainly EE in a lot of trouble for not taking it from you. I think he needs a bit of retraining. |

Return procedures seem to depend on who serves you as I just returned mine.
I took mine in to EE store 1 and mentioned the £20 voucher. He asked if I had received a text from EE to which I said no as I haven't received one (yet). He said I could give him the power bar but he couldn't give me a voucher unless I showed him the text. He said the texts are still being rolled out (obviously they are like 4G site upgrades) and advised I keep the power bar until I get the text. Slightly strange advice given it's a recall on safety grounds. Although I don't really care about the voucher and will probably just give it to someone else, as there's another EE store less than two minutes away I thought I would try that one. So in I walk to EE store 2 which conveniently had a pile of £20 vouchers on the desk. I hardly had time to say anything before he took the bar from me and handed me the voucher. I returned it in the tube but he didn't check it so presumably a few carefully selected stones instead of the power bar could have got me my voucher! He also kept it on him. Maybe he will "return' it himself and claim a voucher. Perhaps EE will need more £20 vouchers than power bars returned.

The EE portable charger didnt come with a mains plug, just the unit itself, and a short yellow micro USB lead packaged in a cardboard tube

I asked my mum to take mine to my local and they didn't have a clue they asked her did she have proof of the recall ,surely ee would of informed all there stores she went home and then rang back when I informed her of the ee web information and he said bring it back with proof and he has to remove it from my account and he has to take it off her so I don't try to change it at another store lol obviously they don't understand what a recall is ,so I will now take it myself to get it sorted or I might just bin it it's not worth the hassle of dealing with the ee Instore muppets

All stores must have got the same bulletin but perhaps not all read them?

The store was in Lakeside shopping centre although I think there are three or four there.

Took mine back today but EE don't have a good replacement. The voucher is 'worth' £20 but not one of their offerings has 2600mAh and a torch.
What to do next? |

I've been using mine still, it doesn't get "hot", certainly no warmer than my phone would when it's charging anyway.
I'd never leave it unattended, but as mentioned above there's nothing decent / "worth" £20 on EE's accessories store |

Yeah but you can always add to the voucher.
A tenner would get you this https://accessories.ee.co.uk/product/PWRB6WHKT/ |

Yes, there's a similar one in black for a fiver less. EE used to offer one (PWRB2WHKT) for £12.99 but that's gone, they deleted the page. Maybe I get something for £20 and sell it to get a good one off Amazon? I had two but they won't let you combine the vouchers or have more than one item per voucher.

![]() As the EE chargers have been recalled I would stop using them - your home insurance may not cover anything that happens should you still be using them when you know its been recalled. Just take it into closest store. |

I already bought a 13,000mAh Anker charger from Amazon - so wasn't using the EE one, so returning it was a no issue. I bought the £19.99 mini speaker BoomSound - and it arrived today, VERY loud for something so small. LOL

Just take it into closest store. It was a secret santa present and I had 10 quid to spend so I stretched it a bit. ![]() It was awesome for the price. Where do I find the Boomsound? |

Maybe I have read this wrong, EE's reputation doesn't seem to have taken a knock over this. Given so many were handed out, one would think would be citicised for it, that said kudos to them for acting quickly on the issue.....I know of another network where that would not have happed and the customer would be to blame

Yeah but hang on, the power bar was free so you now have a free 20 quid to spend don't you? I never got round to getting my power bar so now I'm a bit pi**ed as I could have got a free 20 quid too.
There was a post on another phone forum that hundreds of thousands were tested and had no problem. Mine did get warm but not that hot. I used it mostly as a torch and it was small and light, these bigger ones are not as portable IMO. |

Don't know where this 'free' idea came from. The amount was deducted from your account. The £20 is only a voucher not cash from what EE offers from their limited overpriced accessories.
EE provided a service, swapping the PowerBar for a charged one in any store. It cost me a text message+50p to get the first PowerBar and then I could swap an empty one in any EE store for a charged one for an 18 month period. EE closed the service and gave a voucher worth £20 for something from the accessories store to say 'sorry'. I actually think that's pretty decent of them, they didn't need to provide any "apology". |

Exactly. Free to EE customers, £20 for non-customers.

Who would have bought one for £20? Low capacity and slow to both charge up and charge other devices.
It was good for free (besides text cost) and being able to swap for a fully charged one, assuming you were near a store, and it was okay as a torch, but otherwise it wasn't worth anywhere near twenty quid. Amazon is full of far better choices for the same, or less, money. |
