Does she do "Wow"? - cos that was almost a carbon-copy of "Wuthering Heights".

And Who's That Girl? Which along with True Blue was missing from her Immaculate Collection album.

You're gonna have to explain that one...

I always thought "Wow" sounded a lot like "Wuthering Heights". Therefore if she, in modern times, doesn't like to perform the latter, then she also might not like performing the former? ("Wow" was a 1979 single - perhaps not her best known, though.)

Totally agree. Her Celebration GHs album has tons of omissions. The fact they attempted to manufacture a single CD to span over 25 years of hits was just bizarre. The 2CD version was better, but she could have released a 3CD set and still overlook some big hits. Don't even get me started on GHV2!!

The best GHs album in my collection is Pet Shop Boys 'PopArt'. It really does contain everything. One of my absolute favourite albums.

I hate when artists do this too.....smacks of pretentiousness like "ooh we can't be having any of that commercial hit malarkey coz you know I only make 'real music' that the masses just wouldn't get"

Bon Jovi's mid '90s 'greatest hits' compilation 'Crossroad' doesn't contain 'Born To Be My Baby', one of their top 20 hits from Dec '88 - Jan '89.

Squeeze had a singles collection in the 80's which had Labelled with Love missing, one of their best songs.

Led Zeppelin's greatest hits album has both the excellent 'Battle of Evermore, and 'Four Sticks' missing. It's a shame as is otherwise a great album.

With Zep not really doing singles, never sure how they defined a Hit, most popular or what?

A couple of tracks on the greatest hits were a bit 'meh' compared to the two I mentioned. I'm just going by what is a good tune. 'Battle of Evermore' stands out

Summer Night City, Top 5 hit was left off Abba Gold in favour of Thank You For The Music but it was on More Abba Gold.

These are artists who used the money from their mainstream hits to make the music they wanted to. Talk Talk is a good example. There's already a best of released by EMI with all their hits on it so they made a compilation album for the fans of their more progressive songs.

I find the lack of Angel Eyes more odd to be honest.

True Blue is about Sean Penn so Madonna purposefully leaves it off compilations.

More frustrating is how the original single versions get swapped for later remixes, like Holiday, Vogue and Lucky Star.

R.E.M. hate Shiny Happy People and last performed it on the Muppet Show so as to disown it.

Texas leave quite a few big hits off of 25 (Disc 2. Disc 1 is a live lounge style alvum) Yet have Say What You Want on there twice!

To be honest, though, that track is absolutely shite.

I think the band actively dislike that song.

Summer Night City and Angel Eyes were left off ABBA Gold because there was no
room on it for them.

ABBA Gold, (1992), was based on their UK Top 10 Hits. They had 19 of them. 18 of
them were put on ABBA Gold, with Thank You For The Music being included as a
19th Track, even though that only reached No.33 in 1983. It was felt that it was a sort
of signature tune for ABBA, & that's why it was included. (It had also been a Track
on 'The Album' in 1978, & on 'Greatest Hits Vol. 2 in 1979. As well as being the 'B'
Side of the 'Eagle' Single in 1978. A Single which the UK & Ireland did not get).

Angel Eyes had been a 1979 UK Double 'A' Side with Voulez-Vous. There was only
room for one of the 2 Tracks on ABBA Gold. Voulez-Vous got chosen, & Angel Eyes
was put on More ABBA Gold. Besides, there were already 4 Tracks from their 1979
Voulez-Vous Album on ABBA Gold - more than any other ABBA Album. If Angel Eyes
had been put on Gold as well, then 5 'Voulez-Vous' songs would have been on it, &
the Record Company probably felt that was too many.

Summer Night City was a UK No.5 Hit, in 1978. There was no room to fit it on Gold.
It was 'relegated' to More ABBA Gold. (1993). (It was not one of ABBA's biggest
International Hits, & ABBA themselves were not keen on it. They felt that they
never did get it to sound quite right - although cutting off Agnetha & Frida's
spoken intro was a big mistake).

Australia & New Zealand got slightly different Track Lists for ABBA Gold. Three of
the Tracks were different on their version. For their Tracks 6, 7 & 18, they got these
songs - Ring Ring, I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do, & Rock Me. That's because those 3 were
big Hits in those 2 Countries. They replaced Super Trouper, I Have A Dream, and
Thank You For The Music, which every other Country got. It was not until 2002
that New Zealand had the Global Track List ABBA Gold released there, & Australia
got it in 2008. (Rock Me became a big Hit in Australia & New Zealand, in 1976, even
though it was the 'B' Side of 'I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do', which had already been a big
Hit in those 2 Countries).
