BT mobile use EE network anyway pre-buyout?
LCDMAN

Search is fubar so apologies if this has been answered. Do BT use the EE 4G network? Given that BT are about to purchase EE I guess they must, but....

Can take up a BT Mobile SIM only plan identical to my EE one but half the price. Have good EE coverage and would hate to sacrifice that. Seems like a no-brainer, but worse coverage seems pointless at whatever price....

Yes BT use EE and coverage is exactly the same. Just no WiFi calling and the data speeds are limited to 30/15, which isn't a problem for 99% of users.

Yes they do use the EE 4G network. Don't believe they support double-speed 4G though.

Thanks for the quick replies folks, they don't support the double speed 4G here anyway so no biggy.

Thought BT didn't like tethering?

Lucky you on your iPhone, as I understand, it's not allowed under the T&Cs
I know you can still use it on Android but risk breaking the terms of your contract..
The option is missing on my father in law's iPhone 5s though..
Don't understand why they would restrict this to be honest, your on a fixed data plan, surely if you want to use it all up doing speedtests all day, visiting Pedro's mast port site and viewing his high resolution pictures of sensitive parts, or heaven forbid, using your ipad in the train or car on the odd occasion, surely that's up to you..

Tethering no, but you do get access to BT WiFi (what used to be FON) services.

Use wifi direct rather than mobile hotspot.

Wifi direct is technicially something different to mobile hotspot.

Can BT even see you're tethering on an Android phone?

Nothing like a nice glass of pr0t.

Here's hoping when they become fully the same company they adopt EE's allowances and EE doesn't adopt BT's restrictions instead (Always loved EE's common sense approach of "data is data" even though it's a little more pricey, whether it's in a phone, tethered, mifi hotspot, etc)
