First time there's been the same finalists two years running.

Loved the pat on the back by MVG to Phil there - "never mind son, keep practicing"

I have a feeling Wright will win this. I know MVG's on top form, but I think Wright's just playing so well at the minute.
I hope I'm wrong, but I'm going for Wright here. |

When was the last time MVG didn't win a TV leg format major? Must be going back a bit now.

Snakebite misses the double 12 for a 9 darter, 30 seconds later he's lost the match!
Straightforward 11-4 victory. |

Shame that Wright didn't get the 9 darter. Would have been nice to walk away with something (other than the prize money) than being spanked by MVG again.

Listening to his victory interview makes me realise how good an ambassador for the PDC and darts in general Michael van Gerwen is.
And Peter Wright, for that matter. |

Another win for Van Gerwen then. One thing we've learnt since last year I guess is that Van Gerwen has got even better! (only losing 4 legs in the final, instead of 5
)MVG being so good might mean that a lot of very good players are going to greatly underachieve and possibly not win a PDC major. Likes of Wright, Chisnall, M. Smith, Cullen, Klassen & others will do well to win one with MVG around! |

Oh I do like being wrong.
![]() ![]() Crazy how successful MVG is. Wright must really dislike him. You have to feel sorry for Wright and all thw ohers like him. They can play so well, and clearly have the ability, but MVG is just unstoppable. Must be incredibly frustrating for them.

While MvG is around many of them will be just final players, with no major.
Keep going Snakebite, and well done MvG he is unstoppable now. |

MVG must be confused as to why he's not the current world champ.
Just his luck to have an off day during the most important tournament. |

That defeat at the worlds really crushed him, despite dominating and wining the TV majors the one title he wants is to be world champion again. I watched the interview after that defeat and you have to say fair play for him for being interviewed, He looked a broken man after being beaten by RVB.
The more I watch PDC darts on ITV, the more I find myself preferring their presentation style to Sky Sports - there's less of the hype and Taylor adulation and it is generally more watchable - Mason and Warriner are as good, if not better analysers that Harrington and Bristow and Jacqui Oatley is a tad better looking than deckchair Dave! |

Yes I remember, he was really down after the WC defeat, but compare and contrast with Phil Taylor. Got beaten by MvG last night, both played well - but could Taylor be ar@ed to give an interview afterwards? Could he heck! Instead ITV did a filler piece with Stewart Pyke, Wozzer and Ned.

That's unfair. Taylor is not the only player who doesn't always give an interview after losing. You don't have to and if a player chooses not to I don't think its so bad.
More important is giving congratulations to the winner and Taylor did that. Perennial losers who have reached those dizzy heights probably less so. |

I can't remember the last time Taylor did an interview after losing. Fact is he had taken a great deal from the game, in fact he probably made the game what it is today, therefore he of all people ought really be prepared to give an after match interview - win or lose.
Perennial losers who have reached those dizzy heights probably less so. |
