If i am not mistaken only Lewis and Smith have never played on the BBC before. Of course Anderson was a sereal choker when in the BDO

Still fancy Taylor for the win, but whatever happens the BBC have got the timing of this programme woefully wrong. This show will be finished well before 9:30 never mind 10:30.
They weren't to know that both matches would be relatively one sided - plus they've got programmes on standby they can fling out to cover any under run.

Your baffling determination to criticise the BBC over any little thing this weekend is wearing thin.

And where exactly do you think the prize money will come from?

And you'd have to imagine that sky will pay well to keep it beyond then. But Barry and the PDC have played a blinder in maybe having three bidders in the game (ignoring BT here). And even if itv and BBC aren't in the ball park of sky, at least it will make sky think.

I dont think we'll ever see the PDC World Championship on the BBC as SKY will always go all out to keep that tournament, The Grand Slam Of Darts however might be a viable target.

This event on the BBC has done darts the power of good. Great matches, the top players in the world. Very good crowd and excellent coverage

You would have to be blind not to see how this is good for the game

I know its unlikely.sky wouldn't give it up and the bbc probably couldn't defend the cost. This is a decent wkd comp though for them,

The big question is, though, have the viewing figures been good enough to persuade the BBC to take a more permanent interest in televising the PDC?

I imagine the BBC will have probably run some sort of audience appreciation test on the coverage this weekend as well to find out what their viewers have made of PDC darts full stop.

If the indicators are good and the BBC are in it for the long haul, then the PDC have all kinds of options open to them TV wise going forward.

Sky will never relinquish it and PDC won't want to take the worlds anywhere else. Why ? Because Sky bring much more than the worlds. No other channel could commit to the Premier League, Grand Prix and Matchplay. Sky do sport very well, of course they do, but this weekend has being a resounding success

Barry aint daft I'm sure waving the threat of the BBC or ITV4 come contract renewal time will make sure Sky bump up the cheque a good bit even if he's got no inclination to ever move it from them! Same as BT sniffing around the tier 1 prem footy games keeps Sky paying a kings ransom for the rights each renewal time!

Grand Slam on the BBC wouldn't be a bad idea though, some BDO familiars for Lakeside viewers alongside the PDC lot.

Exactly, and where exactly in the Xmas schedule would the BBC fit in 3 1/2 weeks worth of live darts anyway?

16 days is not 3 and a half weeks but hey lets not let facts get in the way of your utterly ridiculous rants.

Looks like we won't be back anytime soon. In fact I'd be surprised if they don't consign this tournament to the bin where it belongs. Doesn't have the pedigree to be considered a major that's for sure.

Cue, Taylor act like a prick....

Overnight figures are a rough guide, the actual figures will be out in a few weeks. And remember the average is for the whole 4 hours shown. That would mean it was up against SCD and The X Factor so it was never going to be high. I reckon the peak for tonight, which will be during the final, should be around 2 million or so.
