No BDO player has won a long distance game at this event since 2013, exposing the lack of TV opportunities on that side of the divide as clearly a handful of the players are very good indeed.
I guess though it's the same for lower ranked PDC as Pro Tour and European Tour are first to 6 whilst Grand Slam group stages are first to 5. |

Got back from holiday today and I've brought myself up to speed with the GSOD results and how the competition stands ahead of tonight's quarter finals - but there's one thing I've not been able to work out that perhaps someone could explain:
Why did Martin Adams do so badly in the group stage? Was he just going through the motions and just wanted to pick up his first round paycheque? (I wouldn't at all blame him if that was the case as he clearly has more important things on his mind at the moment.) |

Well that was a predictable procession.
Wright V Taylor should be a decent competitive encounter at least. |

Superb consecutive ton-plus finishes from Peter Wright keeps his nose in front.
The 152 was especially sweet as Taylor encouraged the crowd to do the Thor chant to put Wright off. |

...and Wright gets it done 16-10 after the finest sustained performance I've ever seen from him, to be honest.
To average 103 and finish at 40% over 26 legs of darts against Taylor is nothing short of outstanding. |

A game too far for Dobey but he's put his name out there and can be really proud of his week.

Still seems weird to see Anderson playing wearing glasses.

Anderson looks like he's making the decisive move here
and he takes it! Mark of a champion there, he put in a surge right at that crucial end moment and Barney could not respond. Terrific match all round from both players. |

Won the last 3 legs in just 34 darts. Unreal (and Barney was going for a 9 darter in that last leg then lost the match)

Big moment for Peter Wright now - he's got to start winning matches against MvG and the like if he's going to make the leap from being one of the PDC's premier players to being one of its regular tournament winners.

Odd that the GSOD is a ranking event for PDC players

Do you feel Wright is hanging on here, he needs to find that bit more in the scoring.

What a 139 pick-off that was from MvG with Wright on the verge of taking the lead.
Wright's still only one break down on a man averaging 112 though
