sorry if there is a thread on this.

but who would you like the new companion to be?

personally after seeing Bad Education. Nikki Runeckles seems like a good fit to play the next companion, she could bring that "Rose" vibe to the show, minus the whole "falling for the Doctor" thing

Someone a bit older and who can do comedy - Sheridan Smith or Katherine Parkinson would tick the box for me.

Sheridan would be perfect but considering she played Lucie with alongside Paul in the Big finish Audio's and with Night of The Doctor confirming the Audios are all canon with the TV series then could Sheridan play two companions?

Jenna played three in all (with a bit of timey-wimey help).

Somebody with a bit of Clara's initiative and confidence wouldn't hurt but with otherwise a different backstory than the usual 21st Century Earth girl. Someone from the future like Zoe, or even a different planet like Leela, would make a nice change. I would love to see a uncle-niece like bond between them and the Doctor though, kind of like Twelve and Clara have been or like Three and Jo.

Strictly, the audios are not canon, only the names of the characters, and even then they're just names and, in principle, though extremely unlikely, could be referring to other characters entirely. I doubt it will be resolved or even mentioned again in the series anytime soon.

No events portrayed in the audios are canon and could be superseded at any time by the series itself.

I don't think the audio stories will ever be properly referenced in the series itself and made canon.

Character-wise: Someone a bit older again...nothing wrong with older leads carrying a show and kids don't always see age as a hinderance to potential enjoyment.

Actor-wise: Sticking to my guns, aiming high, and forever wishing for Gillian Anderson.

My choice would be BAFTA award winner, Sharon Horgan. A great actress as well as a great writer.

Saw her recently on DVD in the 2011 TV version of The Borrowers, alongside Christopher Eccleston. Enjoyed it a lot. Am a huge fan of Victoria Wood, and she was in this too.

Preferably a female actor (I hear some people call them 'actresses').

I would prefer someone older...
I would have loved to have seen him working alongside someone liek Rebecca Front, but don't see that happening since she was working in Unit.

Moffat's already confirmed the gender.

Someone who travels with the Doctor fully this time. After Amy/Rory during the last few adventures and Clara for the majority of her run, it's better if they're travelling full time. That has to be the most important thing.

I like the idea of somebody older this time. Somebody in their 30s or 40s. Some good shouts made here, especially Gillian Anderson, who I've been wanting to see in Doctor Who for a while now.

We already have Missy & River Song to represent the older females.

Just so long as they don't go for a kid.

Gillian Anderson would make an excellent Romana, or Time Lady in general; she has a very alien feel to her performance when she wants it.
