When is gold not gold?

When Kelly asks for gold and can't have it "because of the show colour palette" but Aliona wears 'blonde' gold???

Kelly must've really upset Miss Vicky!

When is gold not gold?
I don't know.
But I hope my wife never finds out.

It was the same last week. Vicki told Katie "You WILL wear red, whether you like or not"

Yeah- there doesn't seem to be much consistency in their explanations on colour; the week that someone (can't recall who) was denied their choice of colour because someone else had it, Anita & Katie were both in black for their Cell Block Tango and Liza Minelli dresses. It was quite marked up in the Clauditorium with both of them alongside Claud who was also in black.

I think they come up with their "rules" retro-actively to support fairly random decisions.

Kellie was told it wouldn't fit with the show's colour palette... which sounded to me like other gold dresses (eg Aliona's) were decided first. They have to fit with all the daft lighting and props too these days! They did give her the fringing she wanted, even though lindyhoppers don't dress as flapper girls...

Iron pyrites.
Very painful sitting down without a cream.

Yes, it made me smile when Vicky said that it's the final and that they can have anything that they want - but then says that Kellie can't have gold.

Miss Vicky is cleverer than you think - gold does not suit Kellie - she needs darker or bright primary colours that contrast with her blonde hair. If she wears gold, they have to put too much eye makeup on her face.

The week Kellie had mostly fiddly pink, she looked terrible.

That's not true. Having had my colour palette done I've become somewhat expert (in the school of life sense) on colours for different people according to skin/hair and eye colour. Kellie's colouring is soft, light and warm; she does not suit contrasts. Primary colours are brights and would wear Kellie as would dark colours; the latter would emphasise her age too. Gold is a great colour as it comes in many shades and there would be a colour of gold finely suited to Kellie. I have a word for Vicky, 5 letters, no association to cleverness.

Ooops, is there a naughty step to go and sit on?
And were harsh TV lights taken into consideration?

Oh I'm sorry. I don't get the tone of my posts right sometimes especially where I'm feeling right about something ... When you says harsh TV lights I'm confused because not all TV lighting has to be harsh and indeed some lighting used in beauty salons and on TV is very bright but also very flattering. Kellie's make up could be more flattering to help offset the TV lighting; that's often been as poor as her wardrobe. I think Katie, Kirsty and Georgia have had some of the best make-up of the female celebs this year. (Hope I'm not sounding like telling you off again!)

To be fair it did look quite odd to me with Anita and Katie in almost the same top half of their dresses. when they were with Claudia.

One of the crucial things is that the costumes stand out against the lighting background. Drives me nuts when dancers are dressed in gold/brown and then put on a stage lit in gold/red. Or when they're in black/blue against black/blue. Makes everything much less powerful and a lot of the detail gets lost. It might be that Kevin and Kellie's set plan means they need something not gold - just a possibility. But then I thought the pieces of the dress were gold tassels, with a pink background, so what do I know?
