They use to be my favourites but every bleeding Christmas we watch them break up and argue until the cows come home, it's almost like a Corrie tradition. It's getting tiresome and repetitive.

Then they'll be back together by the end of January after Gail does some meddling and says 'think of the kids!'. All whilst Audrey sighs for a month of sundays.

CS for the love of god, think of something new..

I know its tiresome isn't it.

killing callum for the live was a stupid mistake. if he was alive we wouldnt have to be putting up with the repetitive conversations between the pair of them

I love the Platts and David and Kylie as a couple, but I agree, I dont want to see them break up again.

As ive said many times before having Sarah, David and Kylie involved in a murder and cover up was a huge mistake.

True, but we'd still be getting the repetitive scenes of the Platts saying 'Well, that's the last we'll hear from Callum!' only to have him walk into their living room.

Blackburn was the same on Emmerdale. Flogging certain plots into the ground by repeating scenes over and over and over again.

I do still like the platts but yes Kylie and David splitting up then getting back together over and over again is boring.

It is tiresome & I think sometimes even the two actors are playing it like it's all been done before!! The emotion just isn't there for me in this storyline any more, which is a shame because these are two of the best actors on the show, but I just aren't feeling the desperation & passion of a couple who are under the amount of pressure those two are under given their circumstances!!
For a while, in spite of the complete lunacy of the storyline the 3 actors, Paula , Jack & most particularly Tina O' Brien, were holding the story together with some stellar performances but since Sarah's return, Tina's acting has just gone back like she was when she first returned, like the fact Sarah's carrying the baby of the bloke who attacked her & whose murder she witnessed is no big deal!! Her performances since the pregnancy reveal have been just as woeful as her performances after Callum's murder were brilliant which seems strange!! It's like the actors are just as bored with the storyline as the rest of us now!!

Really loathe watching the Platts now. My favourites until Blackburn shredded them to pieces.

Gail still rambles on and simpers, David and Kylie keep having a go at each other and I'm not sure what the point was to Sarah's return. That said I do like her scenes with Todd.

I still think there's potential for a cracking episode once Gail inevitably finds out about Callum. An episode entirely focussed on the Platts please. It'll be good to see Gail's serious side again.

I agree, David & Kylie together aren't tiresome, it's the writers that are tiresome, it appears they seem to split up every Christmas and they, hey presto, back together in the New Year.

If Callum had just buggered off it may have saved us from all this tiresome crap. Having him murdered means he is still around. On top of that Sarah is having his baby, it's a neverending sl ughh.

I thought I had read somewhere that Paula Lane is leaving in the spring (for the foreseeable future, not just a maternity break) so presumably that will be a final break up - everything seems to be pointing in that direction at the moment.

I've not heard about Paula taking a break, I thought it was just Carla, Jason, Roy & Emily due to take extended breaks, with Jason leaving completely.

I started watching Corrie in 2012 so every year I have watched it they've broken up at Christmas. I think it could work as a running joke with them breaking up every year at Christmas, but if its supposed to be taken serious its getting old.

The Platts have been completely ruined. Callum was a dreadful, one dimensional character brought in as a plot device to facilitate Paula Lane's maternity leave, but it feels like everything revolved around him. WIth his murder, Kylie, David and Sarah have a limited shelf life now unless we are heading for some Christmas reveal that he escaped, which would be preferable as that way we could have a resolution to a story that doesn't need one of the three to be arrested for murder.

But I don't see the point of splitting David and Kylie up AGAIN - it's not interesting or dramatic.

Also, what was the point of the whole NotGavin storyline? All that did was split Gail up with Les Dennis. He has forgiven Andy as they seem to be mates now, so not quite sure why he hasn't come back to Gail. I have to say I find him less tedious with Eileen, still boring but not such a simpering drip, but what was the point of giving Gail another failed marriage?

Completely agree with Graciel.
I used to love them but they have become a right pair of miserable bores.

For a young couple in their early twenties they are incredibly dull and joyless. I'd argue that even Fiz and Tyrone have more fun than them!

If Callum is dead we'll be subjected to Kylie and David's constant bickering about it whilst going nowhere. If Callum is alive we'll be subjected to him endlessly trying to get custody of Sarah's baby. The Hat has made good and sure there is no escape

It has become Corrie's very own cliche now to break up the Platts at xmas.
I'd actually like to see them paired off with other characters now.....Tina with Luke to see if she can make him more exciting and David with Steph and Andy in a polygamous relationship.

I think you mean Kylie and Luke. But I get your point and agree. What about David going gay and sleeping with Todd. Gail and Eileen would have a fit!
