Eastenders rushed Domestic Violence storylines.
In the past 12 or so months Eastenders have started and finished Domestic Violence storylines before they really got off the ground.
The first being Tosh and Tina, there were a few scenes that built tension etc, then Tosh left rather unexpectedly before the story really got going. The same is about to happen with Roxy and Dean by the looks of it, there has been a few scenes between them (He burn't her with the hair straightener, and cut her hair) and he is obviously controlling about where she is and who she's talking to, but it seems that
Spoiler
It would be good if they actually did one properly, the last time that had a DV storyline done properly on Eastenders was about 15 years ago with Little Mo and terrible Trev. |

They are all plot devices rather than dealing with the issue. Most of the characters now on Eastenders have become shallow and stereotyped for their parts in the various storylines. I thought they were going to make DEAN complex, deep, psychologically damaged / deluded (no thanks to the efforts of the actor) but the storylines and their endless twists seem to be turning him into a cartoon character.

EastEnders did a domestic violence storyline back in the 1980's with health visitor Carmel Roberts and her husband Matthew Jackson. I remember it was because it was quite well done and very involving in what was going to happen between them.

as MinaH said these were plot devices rather than actual individual storylines to raise awareness on the issues

Nothing could match Trevor and Mo.
