The Jive is being talked about so much now that its loosing its meaning .Like a word you repeat over and over and over and over till it becomes a silly meaningless noise .

The die-hards will think it the right choice, an inspired choice, of course the paso was quite clearly the dance of the series.

He may well win and then it will be lauded as a great decision by them both, when really they will be voting no matter what, as someone said, they could do the hokey kokey!

But for a general viewer, even ones who have favoured him, it is a bad choice.

Firstly the excuses, he is too nervous to do it, it will in some way tarnish it, both make little sense.

In all cases, people do the dance that has been epic for them in the series, mostly because people stop them on the street and say 'oh, that jive', and it is a sort of thank you to them and to celebrate how great it was.
People have been presuming it would be the jive he would do for this very reason.

For most people it will be an obvious omission in the final.

Seeing as most have been banging on about that Jive, when praising him... it seems silly not to be pulling it out of the bag again for the final.

Oh well.

The jive was great entertainment. Quality entertainment. That's what the public want to see. They should only consider another dance if it is going to become the dance of the series.

Whatever internal reasons the couple have for doing another dance shouldn't get in the way. That's their problem. We'd rather not see their problems. We'd rather see the jive.

Well, I for one am very happy to see the Paso again. Just watched it on youtube - fabulous drama, beautiful shaping and a strong performance from Jay. Just because the jive was iconic it doesn't mean it's their favourite. Showdance, QS and the Paso if they get through to the last three. It's a WOW from me

I , for one, am disappointed that they are not doing the Jive again. I remember watching the show on my own and was gobsmacked at the standard of the Jive. I never watch any dances again on youtube, as I don't feel the need. Just enjoy the dance as it happens and move on the the next.
This was so good ( I have been dancing 20 years competitively) that when my partner came in I said "OMG you have to watch this, this guy is brilliant". And then we watched it again on iplayer.
As said I I have never felt the need to watch any dances again, not in any series, just this one. Although I have enjoyed Jays other dances - Tango was great too - for me, this Jive was special.
For those who think that J&A may not have chosen this as they felt it may be a gamble, in case there were mistakes and therefore not do good as the first time....I don't feel this is the reason, as competitive dancers keep the same routines for ages, many months, sometimes years. The longer you keep them in place, you simply improve. They have had the time to continue to improve it further.

I loved the paso too. The double underarm spins in time to the two-thump bass drum beat were incredibly sexy!

The song lyrics have a certain resonance too, not just for Jay, but for all the finalists and their choice of favourite dance:

Quote:
“It's my life
And it's now or never
I ain't gonna live forever
I just want to live while I'm alive
(It's my life)
My heart is like an open highway
Like Frankie said
I did it my way
I just want to live while I'm alive
'Cause it's my life”

I hope they all get to live life in their own way of choosing after Strictly. They all deserve us after entertaining us in one way or another for the last 13 weeks.

Conversely, every rehearsal for his QS went perfectly until the actual performance.

It is obviously their choice, but the jive was their wow dance and it is a shame, from a viewer perspective, for them not to dance it again.

However, whatever the arguments, I don't think they should be just about winning. It is really about whether it is better to take on the challenge of reproducing and improving on a great performance, or better to try and improve a not so great one. There are arguments for and against either of these options.

It's not the viewers favourite dance though is it? It's the couples. Kimberley & Pasha chose their tango which needed improvement .. because they'd loved dancing it so much. Jay has already said that he watches other dances back more than the jive. It's up to him or them what they choose.
