What model Humax? Auto standby shouldn't be a problem. Unless it is going into the energy saving mode that turns virtually everything off which might mean it doesn't wake up to make a recording. But from normal standby the Humax ought to be able to record just as if it was fully switched on.
Also are you setting a recording from the EPG and using "Accurate Record" which relies on codes sent by the broadcaster to tell the box the programme has started. Could be these codes are going AWOL (not unheard of) so the Humax thinks the programme isn't being broadcast. Try setting a manual timer and see if that works, as it doesn't use the broadcast codes to trigger the recording. |

Is it by any chance a Freetime satellite box and you are attempting to record Robot Wars: "Extreme" ?
If so see this thread https://myhumax.org/forum/topic/reco...te-after-1-day If not this programme can you post which programme is failing. |

Just any that's on Challenge after 1am it's after it goes into stand by I assume. I don't record much overnight so sure if it's just the one channel with the issue. My other recording are usually fine but the odd thing doesn't record. That's why I am wondering if it's something to do with the standby.
![]() I Have set Robot Wars (the one causing the problem on Freetime boxes) and Fort Bayard at 04:30. |

Just to eliminate the possibility of the low power standby function being involved. Go to MENU > Settings > System > Power Management and see if it is set to ON or OFF. If set ON change it to OFF and see if that has any effect or not.
There is nothing in the manual to suggest it won't wake out of low power standby but you never know. |

I'm not entirely convinced either that low power standby is to blame. It's just one possibility to eliminate from the equation.
In other words it WAS standby mode which was to blame but now it is just that some owners have some how, perhaps unintentionally, bypassed the various updates that Humax have attempted to issue. No over the air downloads are currently available. Alternatives to an over the air download is to download from the HumaxDigital support site and load via a USB pen, or connect to the internet and allow to update during normal usage over the next 24 hours. However if an internet update has already been offered and refused a second chance is not offered, even after a reset to defaults! The USB pen method to update will still work though. |

The original software for the HDR-1800T has an issue that it does not record in standby. Until the new software was issued owners of the HDR-1800T had to switch off auto-standby.

Got the box a few months back from Argos so I guess I missed all the over air updates.
Double check that you are on old software MENU > Settings > System > System Information > Software Version should be at least as recent as 1.01.06 for recording from standby. IF you can't persuade it to update via interrnet then using your computer download the latest software (hdr1800t_upgrade.hdf ) from http://www.humaxdigital.com/uk/produ...?gid=554&pid=6 There are instructions further down on the same page, or for alternative wording of the instructions try those at https://myhumax.org/forum/topic/how-...-on-1800t2000t |

Programmes recorded OK on a HDR FOX T2, so presumably is related to the specific model We need an owner with a 1800T and latest software to try a test recording.

Barry over at myhumax.org was the first to report that there was a software to fix this issue. He had it before it was released by any of the normal methods and also distributed to a limited number of folks who were also complaining of the same problem.

I have contacted Barry and have his permission to reveal what I already knew.
I contacted him by PM inmediately the OP posted this issue, and he set up a test using the full range of Humax Freeview+ boxes he has access, He has confirmed the issue is repeatable, and has a few more recordings to confirm more details as to the issue. He has also said that he will pass the details on to Humax support. Unfortunately a senior member of the Humax team he knew personally has left the company so his report should be backed up by the OP to Humax technical support. I was hoping another member of this forum having access to the box would have tested this. Clearly members around here aren't as helpful as the members of MyHumax. |
