Streaming movies via NowTV - Download usage?

Can anyone tell me (NowTV FAQ useless!) just how much a typical streamed movie might use?

Lets take Lego Movie - IMDB tells me it's 100 mins long, so if I stream it then how much of my download allowance is that going to use? Box set to output 1080p, if it matters.

Thanks.

LCDMAN movies on NOW TV tend to be around 2400kbps which at 100 minutes would be 1.75GB

It all depends on the bitrate. Without knowing that there is no way to calculate what amount of data will be consumed. 1080p output on the box is irrelevant by the way. a SD movie at 10Mb/s will consume twice as much data as a HD movie at 5Mb/s.

So you need to try and work out the bit rate it uses then do the maths.

Yeah, agreed.

Now, I can do a test as I have the equipment set up, but I'll need to know what device/platform the OP wants to use, and which show (the shows vary in quality, and each platform has a different bitrate)

For instance, the last time I checked the Now TV box during a movie, I saw 3220kbps stream through, and 3990kbps on the Apple TV platform. But these were a while ago and I'll need to test again. Now TV have a habit of improving things over time which is of course always good.

As a very rough guide

1Mb/s bitrate uses 1MB of data every 8 seconds or 7.5MB per minute or 450MB per hour
2Mb/s bitrate uses 1MB of data every 4 seconds or 15MB per minute or 900MB per hour
4Mb/s bitrate uses 1MB of data every 2 seconds or 30MB per minute or 1800MB per hour
8Mb/s bitrate uses 1MB of data every second or 60MB per minute or 3600MB per hour

Thanks folks, given me an idea of usage. No idea of bitrate, but i did find a good guide on one of the AV forums I frequent regarding NowTV and download/bandwidth usage. 90 min film roughly 1.5 to 1.7GB. That's good enough.
